View Full Version : The ideal bourbon to coke ratio

I was pondering mankind's largest problems (as you do) and solved a few of them (world hunger, war, how to fit a whole pack of marshmallows in one's mouth)....

Anyway, whilst doing the above, I also pondered how much bourbon I could take to the Cold Duck... then promptly thought about how much Coca-Cola I'd need to take to mix with said bourbon.

Being a see how much shit I can put on the bike sort of guy, can you offer any advice to the ideal bourbon / coke ratio?

It depends on previous/current consumption ratio.

If you have been largely OTP* (Off the piss) for a while - a small/splash ratio is adequate.

IF you are in a drinking (The Oliver Reed) phase - 50/50 is doable.

* I once played in a basketball team called OTP.

Much better idea is to flag taking coke and simply take more Bourbon, though overpriced at bike rallys shelling out for a few bottles of coke wont send you to the poor house not to mention the amount of coke needed will decrease as the night goes on.

Why would you ruin good bourbon by adding coke!

Ah - bourbon....
2 fingers of bourbon in a glass of your choice. Add bourbon to taste.

Note: This recipe will work with all spirits. Except gin. Goes without saying, really

can you offer any advice to the ideal bourbon / coke ratio?

I believe the coke to bourbon ratio changes as the night progresses, so really any advice is futile. But I do have some advice........

Just don't bring your mates....

The ideal bourbon to coke ratio is 1:0. Coke is an absolutely abominable substance, and should never be used as a mixer.

I reckon. You can't make a good shandy with coke either.

Slapper? That's a bit harsh.

Anyways....what would you know about bourbon? You can't even spell it.

I write most of my best stuff when I'm drinking. Then I have to go back to it the next morning and make sure it all makes sense, it usually does though.

If it doesn't taste like petrol you've added too much coke.

Start with a tall glass at a palatable mix ratio. Refresh the glass every time it reaches the half empty/full mark. THe drink ratio will automatically adjust until sufficient inebriation is achieved.

Also - If you use a squirty top drink bottle the valuable mix will be saved when you stagger and fall

The Mrs has just switched to L&P with her bourbon instead of coke, it is as you say an abominable substance. She has also recently acquired a nip pourer for her bottle so the ratio doesn't increase to around 80/20 by the end of the night.

Our usual theory with bike rallies has been previously stated, take the booze and buy the mixer there, costs money but you don't need to find room for it.

That's interesting. Common sense says I know why it would be no BYO. However, the ticket doesn't say that.

Do they rummage through your bags or something?

At the rally buy a 440 can of Woodstock.

Then just keep topping it up with the bourbon ya sneaked in.

When it's a tad warm finish it off and start again.

That is a good ratio...the only problem is the spirit....try scotch instead 100:0 or Vodka...I have been known with both!!

That's good. I'm happy to support the local cause and buy, but like to mix my own. I don't think I could handle watching the bourbon being poured on the grass! - lol

Me & a mate arrived in Aus, fresh off the plane and a duty free 40 of beam. we decided to have a couple of quiets out front of our respective motel units, so bought 2 cans of coke, figured it should be enough for a civilised couple of drinks each. We turned in when the beam bottle was empty.

Strangely I found it a little difficult to concentrate in class the next day (we got sent for a course). Passed the exam tho, so all good.

Vishus things them 8% things.

Woke up at the Off The Rails rally a few years ago, all soggy from the rain, a big pile of 'used' chips near my mouth and a gravity attack.

Caused by 6 cans of 8% Woodies, no tucker compounded buy finishing night-shift + 4 hours sleep then heading off to the above rally.:puke:

I'll raise a glass (or 3) of 15 year-old single malt to that idea
