Today I parked my bike at uni in the proper place and when I got out of my class and had to leave in a bit of a hurry I discovered that some dumbass scooter rider had parked their piece of crap behind me blocking me in. So I waited a bit while I put my gear on (which takes me quite a while), hoping that the rider would not be long since they parked in such a stupid place and be back soon to move it.

Now I had my stuff on and mr dipshit wasnt back yet, and I needed to move, so I decided to move the scooter myself, but discovered to its farings detriment that scooters arnt meant to be forcibly dragged out of stupid parking spots. As I was trying to move it, the owner came along and said to stop touching it. I said that he had parked in a pretty stupid place, to which he retorted that he was only gone 5 mins. He was clearly gone way more than that and to park blocking in several bikes leaving your stupid scooter for any ammount of time to me is asking to have the thing destroyed. I spose he was luckey that I was in a fairly good mood. Does anyone think I was unreasonable in trying to get the little piece of crap out of the way? Should I have waited until the fuckwit who thought a scooter was the best way to get around was back ffom his little errand?

The moral of this story is dont block people in. Next time I will intentionally fuck up your piece of shit scooter.

Scooter riders assume you can turn your bike on the centre stand like they can to get out of tight spots.

6th May 2010, 21:37
nah move the thing. At the civic carpark everyone parks on an angle (to match the angled carparks), except one guy on some white scooter who parks right behind people, and perpendicular to the curb, making it even harder to move around. I have no problem moving bikes if they block me in, if I'm in a good mood I might put them back when I've got my bike out.

I quite often move scooters to make room for me to park. If youre careful you can drag em on the center stand no problem

Spazman727
6th May 2010, 21:43
Im used to my bike having a handle under the seat to put it on the centre stand so I just grabbed the equivalent place on the scooter and pullef and the fairing came off a little.

Saw a guy get pissed with another bike for blocking him in all the time, so we moved it he locked it so a handrail and said he will unlock when he returns the next day LoL

Nothing wrong with moving any bike that someone has parked in a way that prevents you from moving yours. If they do'nt want you touching their bike, they should'nt have been so fucken selfish as to park you in. As for him coming and telling you off, you should've told him to get fucked, and that the world does'nt revolve around him, and expecting others to just wait on him is'nt going to happen.

I never touch anyone elses bike without permission, but if someone parks me in and expects me to wait for them to get back, whenever that could fucken be, they are bloody dreaming, i'll damn well move it if there is'nt a reasonable space for me to get out.

Anyone with an issue with someone moving their bike when they have parked you in, especially if you do it carefully has mental issues, and is a total fucken tosspot.

You tried to move a scooter and you dropped it? Wtf is wrong with you? Scooters weigh fuck all mate. You better not try to move anything large and expensive if you can't handle a scooter, and as for threatening to intentionally "fuck someones POS scoother" I think you the one who is more likely to get the whack.

By all means shift someones' bike if you have the skills and experience to do it, but dropping a scooter, wtf?

I didnt drop it, I grabbed it and pulled it and the fairing started coming off so I stopped and tried to find another place to hold. Thats when the guy came back.

Since we are on the topic of scrooter rider parking habits and in the interests of education - I would like to alert all scrooter riders to THIS (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=1943918#post1943918) previous rant of mine - I too would choose next time NOT to be patient and give myself a hernia but WILL Fuck up your piece of shit scrooter!

You certainly did the right thing. There is a scooter which parks on williis street, wellington, that I swear is more gaffer tape than actual scooter.

The sodding thing is always wedged in between bikes, when there is no actual space - fair enough that it could fit physically into the space(?!) but the rider never seems to take into account that the motorbike, his piece of mobile tape is mere millimeters away from, requires its rider to at least get his leg into the space between bikes.

Damn thing also sticks to you foot when you boot it - most annoying.

this applies equally to motorcyclists who don't know how to park like grown ups. i prefer the scooters because you can move them (to an entirely different quadrant of the parking lot, if you have a friend).

motorbikes on the other hand are a bitch to move so you simply must resort to carrying a large piece of paper and vivid with you to tape "LEARN TO PARK LIKE A FUCKING GROWN UP" everywhere that passer bys can see it. nothing like public embarrassment to fix a bad habit.

CookMySock

"LEARN TO PARK LIKE A FUCKING GROWN UP"Theres a bloke always parks his cruiser in the bike park outside dick smith electronics in whakatane. He parks the fucking thing so he either unnecessarily takes the whole bike parking space, or so that if you use it as well it blocks him in. My wife (trying to park her bike there) commented to him only to be greeted with a typical cruiser asshole rude response, so I just park across him now. If he is this tough I bet he can stand pivot - unless he jams his back wheel into a corner so he can't even do that.

I can imagine the howls of outrage if anyone tried to move any of your bikes and damaged a fairing, even if you were parked like an arsehole. It's all good though, I'll just tape this thread onto the R1 that parks like an arsehole here after I "kick it over and piss on it" cause obviously that's ok.

If you don't feel confident doing it, then you probably shouldn't be.

Conversely, I'd shift someones' bike if I was forced to. If they don't like that, then should park properly to begin with.

If some cunt took umbrage and whacked me one just because I moved his bike, he'd better not take his eyes off me, coz I'll open him up like a fucking tin of fish. Different story if I DID drop his pride and joy.. probably I'd deserve it.

If you HAVE TO move it, then move it, but be fucking careful.

and thats exactly why i park as close to the way out as i can without being in the way of passing traffic. i try to never park with my tyre against the kerb unless its a parallel park where its near impossible to be blocked in.

edit: i also park nose out. learned through experience that backing up an incline is bloody tricky, even without traffic swishing past.

In a bikeless phase of my life I owned a scooter (until I lent it to a young moron student who didn't know what a lock was and it got stolen from Uni)
It was a big bag of fun.
Because I am a grown up I didnt try to race bikes, parked consideratly and generally behaved like an adult while thrashing the arse off it everywhere.

Point is, if you don't give offense, likely you won'y be offended.

The thread is just a bit of a laugh... bikes, scoots, cars and couriers all blocking someone somewhere, thanks to KB I'll know what to do,
kick it
stick to it
move it
lock it
bin it
burn it
and after that if I don't get stage-fright from the crowd watching, piss on it

Spazman727
8th May 2010, 15:24
I didnt mean to damage it, and when I realised that what I was doing wasnt good for the scooter I immediately stopped and tried to find another way to move it without damaging it.. And I was parallel parked and he parked right behind me so there were bikes either side of me, a big drop in front of me and a scooter behind me.

I would, though I'd be a hell of a lot more careful moving a 200kg bike than a 75kg scooter! And in many case if the steering lock was on moving it wouldn't help much anyway, scooter you can easily lift the front end.

I ride a scooter as well as some "real" bikes.

I must say, as far as I am concerned, all those who say "its only a scooter, fuck it - em - the rider - etc deserve red rep, but I just can't be bothered.

I park legally and carefully. But, some times I come back and find someone has moved it.

Sometimes I come back and find that someone has moved it, and that a earlier parker would think I had blocked them in, but I had not.

So if you are blocked in, treat the bike you have to move with care. The location you find it in may not be where the owner left it, particularly if its a small light bike.

All I can say is, he was lucky it wasn't me or one of my mates. We would be alot less tolerant, I am extremely in-tolerant of idiots and liars. I would most likely have picked the scooter up and put it somewhere conspicuous..... like in the middle of the road........

I would just with all due care just move it if I wanted to get out and a dofus had blocked me in. I'm sure the dude on the moped would you rather carefully shift it than called the local council and they moved it (onto the back of a tow truck).

Like wise if I ever have a brain fade I would expect another biker to carefully move my ride. Although at 340kg empty with and steering lock on and the alarm set you might have a slight problem like a hernia trying to move it.
