well our first night in the south was spent in Nelson with Genie. We also found Nordie boy and his wife showed us their hospitality ( and a shed full of bike projects).
Tody we are looking for a couple of couches at the bottom of the West Coast. Haast or Queenstown would be good! I hope we can find someone who can help us by the time it gets cold this evening.... flick me a text on 021 205 7266 if you would like CC and I to grace your couches this evening!

Typing this on Genie's PC just before we leave for the day. Now Genie, You did want us to lock the dog and the cat inside before we go- eh! - I hope I got that right!?

I want a harley or a harley rider?????

That depends; if the performance of the latter is lacking then you'd probably be happier to see the former take the latter over the horizon, so maybe both.

home now!
on the last day in the south, we rode from Twizel to picton with just petrol and piss stops in 8 hours. the Beemer runs beautifully- total kms for the trip -3963 in 8 days. there was so much gear on the bike that I couldnt get it on and off the centre stand by myself!
cc rider planned all the 'hooking up with KBers' side of things and I was left to steer the bike. We met a total of 11 KBers (details to come this evening)- rode some stellar roads - dodged some hideous weather and saw just three rozzas in the entire south island. - only one was actualy working!
lasting memories for myself were...
Queenstown is a shit hole- Im ashamed that we have a place in NZ where a glorified filled roll costs $11.00!
The road around Lakes Hawea and Tekapo - I just want to roll it up and bring it home!
Dansey's Pass - 63 km of gravel through endless tussock covered hills. Naseby and the Danseys Pass hotel are little Gems.
Ranfurly- people up there are still driving around in Mk3 Cortinas and Hillman Hunters!

One sad thing..... aside from the dozens of harleys that we saw around Christchurch, and the couple of people touring on Beemers on the West Coast. The only other Rider we saw in the entire South Island was Genie on her Ninja!

Queenstown; Agree, they've wrecked it.
Naseby; Did ya go curling? It's excellent fun.
Ranfurly; Gotta love that Pig Root beer, neat wee place, great feed to be had at the Hotel.

As for other bikes; dunno when you came through our neck of the woods but there is a very high bike population per capita in Nelson. There's always something happening.

Genie on her Ninja; Did you chuck rocks at her/the bike? I have some lovely round, pepple-like rocks that fly very accurately, I woulda given you a handful. No matter, I can throw some at her on your behalf if you like. :innocent:

We have done similar jaunts around the Mainland (although I think our quickest was ten days) and all it does is make you want to come back for more. After three tours we thought it better just to move here, so we did. Since then we've done three more major tours and various weekenders and it's always interesting to read what other people make of this gorgeous lump of dirt.

You need about a month next time.

Safe journeys.

Yes well maybe you are not of the same high calibre of integritiy as these two adorable people...but what would one expect from a dirty 'ol harley rider who can't wave

It's not that I can't, it's just that so many fellow HD riders don't wave back and there's no way I'd wave to a sports bike rider. (Unless I was using the secret rock-chucking wave, that is.)

Global greetings!
I am flying to New Zealand on November 4th and will be in Christchurch for a few nights. I am looking for a safe place to crash and good company. One night would be great, more always appreciated but not neccissary. With my time in Christchurch I will be looking to purchase a motorcycle, so maybe you can help here too. Please let me know and feel free to send me an email directly at allisonangelbenedetti@gmail.com
Cheers!
