Hi all,
Just about to purchase my first bike and just wanted to know if there is any one out there that offers a pre-purchase inspections similar to what Hometune or AA do for cars?
I called the AA and they didn't seem to interested in helping me.
Failing that, is there anything I should look out for apart from the obvious signs of crashes/drops etc.
I'll soon be on the road, yay! That's more of a pre-warning to everyone rather than a statement.
Cheers,
Chris.

Hi there GWD,
I'm sure there is someone or even an AK mentor in your area that would be happy to help out.
And if its from a private sale a very good idea to have someone else there with you if you are new to the biking scene.
Of course if its from a dealer you do have avenues of come-back, if things dont pan out as you expect. But none the less its still good to have someone else who is onto getting out there on the road to give you that little bit extra piece of mind :)
If, by some extremely remote chance, no-one else posts here and puts their hand up send a PM to Frosty !!
Add some clues to this thread about where the bike is .. generally like (bike shop/ private/ suburb etc ), and if its a entry level 250 or a R1 !
Else, all the best in your biking endevours .. and factor in your $'s equation some protective gear too.....
Also don't forget to check with car jam that is is cool and has not been used as security. I almost brought a car that a finance company was looking to snatch last week. Best $12 I have ever spent?

When I bought my GT650R, I got a pre-purchase inspection done at Cycletreads in Barrys Point Road. It only cost $30 and was really thorough. Also, as previously mentioned, a carjam report is a good idea, to make sure that there is no finance owing on the bike.

Cheers Warr and thanks for the offer. The bike is a Hyosung GV250. It's a private sale out in Glendowie - the rich part me thinks! I think I will be parking my car down the road to save any embarrasement.

Thanks Flip, I'll do that...don't want to get burned on my first bike purchase. Not to mention the yelling from my wife that will go with it!
