View Full Version : Taking offers - CBR250R - MC19
Edit, damnit, I've stuffed up the title, MC19, I've reported/asked for it to get fixed, so it should be OK as soon as the admins have some time spare :-)
Right, I haven't got any bites at for this, so I'm throwing it open to offers, a $1 reserve type thing, just not with those bloodsuckers on trademe taking their share.
What it is, is a 1989 CBR 250 R, the MC19 model.
Goes well, it's been ridden it round most of the north island with not too many worries. There were some issues with a dodgy fuel pump relay which were dealt with by fitting a new one with no further issues.
Some minor cracking in the fairing, most of it cosmetic, nothing that affects the security of their attachment to the metal lump in the middle...
Hasn't been dropped in a few years, but it was bought second hand so I can't speak for any time before this.
Oil and filter done every 5000km, no nasty metal bits in the oil which has to be a good thing... (yup, I do try to make a point of checking this every time, just cos I can... :p )
So, without further ado, I'm going to throw it open to offers.

When does this auction close?
I'd like to wrap it up by this weekend if possible, so say 8pm on Saturday 22nd of May?
If there's any last minute bids/interest, I'd like to give the option of people to bid and not get burgled by a latecomer, so...
Highest bid by end time, with a five minute interval between bids, judged off reported post time, wins (Any bids within 5 minutes of closing time will result in a 5 minute extension to the closing time).
Let me know how this suits, and we can make any adjustments/modifications to the end times if you want.

Wof? Rego?
Has a month of rego left, and WOF went away 5 months ago.
Here's the details of the bike.

Has the motor been swapped? I see the frame is MC19 (1989) and the motor is MC14(1986). Or is that normal?

I've just had a look through the manual for the CBR250 and it seems all the models from the MC17 through to the MC22 had various iterations of the MC14E motor (go figure...), I guess the variation was just in what was bolted to them in terms of carbs and cams and fuel pumps and whatnot.
The CBR250RR(L) has MC14E - (page 24-2), the CBR250R(J) is also listed as an MC14E powerplant (page 22-2), and the powerplant for all the models is listed as an MC14E unit at the front of the manual.
I learn something new every day, never ever bothered to check that before...
Anyway, in summary, the powerplant is correct for the bike, so I doubt it's been swapped :)
Kiwifruit snagged it. Lucky bugger :-)

Even the Jades and the Hornets have MC14 Engines.... Not too hard to figure at all.
Honda don't fix what ain't broke.
Reliable as a swiss watch those MC14's.

What are the tires like? Anything I need to be worried about? Just past my BHS today and could be pretty keen on it, only problem is I'm in Auckland
