Hey everyone Tegan here from wellington . i dont have a bike yet . but hopfully by the end of this year i will have a bike . came on here to ask what good leaner bikes there is .?and what gear to chose too. for a noobie like me ..?

Depends on a few things, what kind of bike do you see yourself riding? A sportsbikes, cruiser, naked, motard type thing......
What is your budget?
Have you ridden anything before? If so, what and how confident are you?
Gear, best you can afford, pref leather, but if you commute, cordura may be better. Helmet, new, best fit you can afford, try on loads, your head needs the best protection you can afford. Gloves and boots, yes, do buy good quality, again, leather is best, especially when it comes to gloves.
Don't know if any of that helps, try some stuff on for size, same with bikes.

i see myself riding a sports bike i do like the look of some naked sport bikes i would proply spend $5000 down on a bike .and nope ive never ridden in my life,

Honda Hornet or VTR, Yamaha Zeal, Suzuki Bandit aren't bad choices.

Generally cheaper fixing them up if you manage to drop them. I dropped my first bike twice whilst learning. Fortunately, I managed to avoid breaking any plastics, but they can be horrendously expensive to repair.

for 5k you could pick up a late model Honda VTR that would be my choice. Love the look and v-twin ta boot

+1 on the VTR. GN250 is a perfect learners bike, you would get 6 mnths experience and when you drop it manoevering around at 0.5kph [everybody does that!] you won't cry about how much it costs to fix compared to VTR. Both great bikes tho, the VTR would be a better long termer
