My mate brought one in Wyoming, the usa market was a flop, didn't go so well by sound of it. My mate got his for 17k nz. He said it's ok, but its not as he thought it would be. He has the same horsepower out of his new HD wideglide and recons for the buck the yam is over rated and over priced.
Still if you like it, thats awesome, not my cuppa tho, prefer something a little less rich.

Does look the part.

I would expect this post and/or thread to last about 5 Mins, but if it last longer then that I will think myself lucky and look forward to some intelligent replies/comments.

Perhaps I can go for a more sedate MT-01?.
Out of interest, how many revs to redline on the vmax? the MT goes to 5g and I think its a 5 speed, but will do 240kph apparently.

That sounds like the first Gen VMax 1200 cc, the 1700,s have only been out for just over a year and a half now and are limited to 80 coming into Aus, dont know about NZ.

This 2nd gen VMax are also price protected......or so the story goes, wont fall below 28K or some bullshit like that.......I can only hope

The V4's red line 11500 RPM .......not bad for a large cap motor and I think they left the 6th gear out on purpose.......either not enough room or propel the bike up to a massive k speed over or around 300+.......might kill a few LOL

This is a kick ass bike and believe it or not , leaves the Busa for dead!!

'leaves the Busa for dead!!' ..... I'm sure it would , torque wise but where the V-max clocks in at 200hp and 280kg dry, the 'Busa as standard is 197hp and 217kg dry, = 70 kg lighter . Slip some Yoshi's on the 'Busa and you're down to around 205kg ..add an air filter and your looking at at around 205 ponies for the busa and a 25% weight saving from std.

Re the 300+ thing, thats why the 'Busa has it's ( admittedly ugly ) aerodynamic fairing stuff ....that's what makes it fast 'cos it's veery slippery.

Not sure how slippery the V-max is (?) but, I would still like to have a squirt on one, nonetheless ...

just did the research on the MT, and im soo not impressed. the old bandit beats it everywher (faster 1/4 by about 2secs, better top speed, 10 more ponies) and the 240 top speed was a bit generous too....factory reckons 207....boo

Agreed, but the MT-01 has a lower redline for a reason.... It's never going to rev very high 'cos it's a BIG V-twin with a huge stroke and ........that's why it's got such a huge amount of torque .....a lot more than any Bandit will ever have.....

And, Ive had a couple of 1200 Bandits , good bikes agreed but, they're cheap for a reason ....

The thing is with the 2nd gen Yamaha don't have a demo model that anyone can test ride, there might be a static model that can be viewed and that's it........when you go to buy one its sight unseen, no test ride and $2000.00 no refund deposit, that's maybe why there's not to many around

I've gone off the clock at 260kmh (indicated) sustained riding on a naked GSX1400 heaps of times no problem at all. You just have to tuck everything in and get your eyeballs down behind the gauges. Once you're used to it it's no issue. Be nice to throw on a supercharger :)
