I'd rather shout someone a dozen for the loan of one than front $89 to buy a kit I'm only going to use once.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
I think I do. I will check tonight.
Sorry 1/4 UNC and BSF and 8mm x1.25. So I can't help.

Any engine reconditioner or similar engineer will do the job for minimum charge.
Flip trust you not to have real sizes, BSF sheesh!

You can get solid inserts that are self-tapping if the application will allow, the insert has two notches at the bottom & you use a bolt & locknut to wind it in. Most engineers merchants won't stock them but will order them in if you ask nicely.

Whats the matter with BSF? It's a real thread for a real engineers bike.

It's only a valve cover bolt on the XL250 so I was hoping I could do it without pulling the engine out, otherwise I'd just take it somewhere. It's one of the bolts next to the cam so it's pumping oil out onto the exhaust as fast as I can pour it in

Cheers, pm'd you.

Absolutely, nothing wrong with good old imperial threads.......of course I did spend far too many years working on old fords, and british and american aeroplanes, so I could be biased.
I hate whitworth spanners though, never seem to have the right size one in the toolbox.

I hate the French but the two good things that did come out of there was Michelin tyres & the SI system.

Shocked that you don't have a couple of cycle threads in the mix...

you should see his mix of cycles. At least he owns two proper bikes from the tuning fork brand.
