People used to bag my Kymco Venox 250 when I had it..... telling me that because it was made in an Asian country, that wasnt Japan, it was crap, and bits would be falling off it while I rode it.

saw me through, from my learners to my full licence. 30,000 ks of commuting and not a problem at all.

Much nicer looking that your Lifan too. :scooter:

If your looking at getting a Lifan, better off giving me the money apposed to flushing it down the toilet......... Better value in paying the same amount for a gold plated dunny.

Whole lot easier to buy a Bike than sell one and, you may have some problems down the track when you want to flick it on. Have'nt heard too many bad stories about the Lifan brand but, then I have'nt any good one's either. Problem is there's no support/ service infrastucture in NZ for that brand in case something goes wrong. In the country they're from everyone has one and it's a no brainer .

As has been suggested, you're better off with a reputable brand, H , K, Y, or S .......Good luck

Simply put the Lifan is built to a price, sure its a copy of another make or could even be the same bike with a different badge on it as I have heard but it all comes down to build quality, by this it could be the chain instead of being a semi decent motorcycle chain is actually and industrial chain of the same pitch that is designed to be run in an oil bath, it could be that the manufacturer uses a lesser grade of chrome plating, or cheaper tyres.

At the end of the day its your money you spend it how you choose.

Can't directly comment on the Lifan but a mate bought one for his wife when Triumph NZ dumped them all for a song. I think the new 250 cruiser was just on $2,000. He was more than happy with the bike and his wife learned to ride on it with no problems. From memory, resale was a major issue so remember your 250 is a short time bike so the ability to move it on and buy your next bike is an important factor in the equation. A H, K, S or Y will be easy to move and hopefully with little loss. My three sons and wife have all gone through the 250 class and we have had a variety of bikes. Our best all round learner was the GN250 and the SR250. Go for the bike that gives you the most confidence as it is a short term bike.

Yeah I've seen that thanks but don't have any experience to give it any 'TLC'

My pick is the TLC is just a cleanup. At worst, maybe a plug but this is a good bike to learn to ride on and learn your basic motorcycle maintenance skills. May save you from sitting on the side of the motorway. Failing that, ask a mate or the person getting you into motorcycle to give you a hand.

Cheers

Thanks for thinking of me but I don't really wanna get something that admits to needed TLC as a first bike esp cause none of my close friends ride

Simplicity cheap running costs and reliability thats still quicker than a 50cc scooter, the FXR150 will be a sure bet for you, even has a kick start if your battery dies. Go plenty well enough for a wee little 150 has a fancy digital dash with user friendly digital petrol meter and gear selection indicator etc.

If it's not going how it should (might be hard to tell if you're a new biker) they sometimes develop a small tear in the carburetor slide diaphragm easy fix and they go really well :)
