In my 6th year of medicine I get 3 months to go anywhere in the world and do anything I want as long as it is semi medical related!!!

I have just come up with this crazy pipeline dream with what to do with at least part of my 3 months, Go help out with Clinica Mobile!

Its madness to think they would even accept me but I guess I can only try hey???

So anyway just asking for help for ideas of how to get their attention, make them even think about considering having me, even if its only for one event!

Obviously I love bikes, (motogp riders ) but mostly Im loving the idea of Orthopaedics, the idea of using chisels and screws in surgery really appeals to me!!!

So any fabulous ideas???

I reckon just turn up to the next Gp & wait till stoner comes in from Practice, take stoner out while he is pitting, then rush him to the Clinica Mobile, tell the Doctor that stoner was complaining about slow riders causing him to crash!......Then tell the doctor you think "its just all in stoners head"
If that fails....then show him a standup Minga on the viffa

Go for it. You need to sell yourself, not necessarily with skimpy clothes lol, but you need to stand out and give the impression that you're strong and can cope with anything type blah blah, which you are....
You must have an awesome CV (or some type thing)?! If not, it'd be easy to put one together!

Good luck, you can do it! :)

Hey Dr Price! Firstly, congrats on getting to where you are now. Orthopaedics sounds like a great field to get into. I guess as far as getting on board with Clinica Mobile, I guess you can only ask. I'm sure they'd love to have a kiwi on the team. Guess the best thing to do is drop them a line on info@poliambulatorioclinicamobile.com and see how it goes. Good luck!! :niceone:

Oh the website said this email clinicamobile@centrotraduzioni.com
Not sure if they go to the same people

Get hold of Charlie Borman and ask if he wants a helper for his next madness adventure. I can safely say you wont be bored on a Borman tour.

fARK'n hell. You call yourself a biker/motorcyclist and don't know who Charley Boorman is? What rock you been hiding under these last FOUR/FIVE years?
paris to Dakar (he broke himself), Long Way Round, Long Way Down (both with Ewan Mcgregor of Starwars and Trainspotting fame).
haha, I got given a book by the MIL (Long Way Round) for xmas when it first came out. I had no idea who either of them were, now when I see trailers for Star Wars & such, I'm, oh, it's Ewan McGregor, he did that trip around the world. Have to say, I don't think I've seen a film with Boorman in it, but the bits I've seen of his acting, he needs to stick to motorcycling (okay, support team).

Seriously though, how's your French? Not sure if De Costa even speaks English. There are other clinics (USA) that specialise in motorcyclists (Doctor, Tornado & Kentucky Kid has an interview with one, where it shows some cool old helmets sitting on the shelf behind him).

It won't be easy to get into, so send your CV, a video, references and whatever you can think of at them. And of course, good luck :)

http://www.tkbsportsmedicine.com/Biography.html is one starting point (this is the Dr on the film I mentioned)
My french (and Italian) are not suitable to speak to any civilised person haha

If you contact the clinic, maybe they will be able to start you off in the right direction.

I been hiding under my rock. lol

I'd just finished watching the french gp (see I knew there was french somewhere), and couldn't remember nationality (I'd had some wines as well) - my bad :) (hey, they're filthy foreigners, it's all the same to me, it's a language I don't speak or understand hahaha - then again, who the hell understands what doctors say and write anyways, they use them big words with more than one syllable).

How exciting!

Go Dr Price!
I'll carry the suitcase!! haha, what a fantastic goal to reach for, if it were me I'd definately create a video CV which encompasses your participation and love of racing and medical knowledge/skills (and obviously your clear concise hard copy citing qualifications/hobbies to back it up of course)
I suggest you learn everything you can about the Clinica Mobile, until you know the philosphy, aims and goals, the names, the years, the circuits, expressions, read up as much as you can until you know it inside and out.
It pays to know your target/goal and have the knowledge to converse.

Looking over the website it gives a good overview, but there'll be more to find.
If this is something your heart is set on, you're already part way there - Try, and if you don't succeed, keep trying until all avenues are exausted :)

What a great ambition!
You have a bit of time up your sleeve to work on it so I would agree to try and do the most professional and unusual application that you can, and if they turn you down don't let that stop you from trying again!
Do you need to have paid employment for the 3 months? Offering your services for free may help?

Good luck I hope you succeed :)

rachprice

Oh yeah its not paid work anyway

Yeah video CV seems to stick out so far, mainly because you cant portray enthusiasm and excitement as well, using words on a page

Excellent idea. The Auckland ambo's used to have a couple of rapid response beemers, my mate rode one for a while, based out in West Auck, don't know if they still have them though.

Get ahold of Terry Stephenson...he's a Jorno in New Zealand. He may have a few contacts as he's riden Motogp bikes in very recent times. Let me know how you get on...as I may have another Idea too.

Oh yeah I have looked up the TT they advertise for paid doctors all the time but I don't know if it would be in my time period!
