If you buy a second-hand transponder, what is the process for getting it transferred to you?
I mailed mylaps in Oz, but haven't got a reply yet - Just wondering if anyone here has gone through the motions on transferring the number, name etc. to the new owner
Cheers

Depends on where you want to use it.
The transponder number is used by the timing organisation, e.g. Tim Gibbes Track Timing, to asign the transponder to a particular bike at a particular event.
They do all that set up independently of anything else, so anyone can use any transponder at any time, theoretically.
But I assume, not having looked into it, that it is possible to register a trans number with AMB and therefore have the "owners" details carried through for any timing organisation.
I wouldn't worry about it until it becomes an issue.
I would advise buying a Direct Power model. The rechargable ones fail on a regular basis, and if you forget to charge it, you are rooted.
I bought a used DP one from the USA, no worries at all.
