Hi the name's Anthony, finally got my license and first bike in April. Being an only child my mom didn't really approve, so i bought quality protective gear from head to toe (cheers Cycletreads!) and after lots of reassurance and telling her all the money i would save on petrol, she's still worried. But who's mom isn't.
I picked up a '90 GPX250 :ride: , at a steal, not a very good looker but mechanically sound (my practical brain finally made a decision) a great first bike. A good friend of mine is mechanically minded and helped through the buying process.
Loving every minute of riding, like a kid with a new toy, but i don't thnk i'll be bored in a month and find something else to keep me amused.
Commuting to Ardmore, from the North Shore, where i'm training to become a helicopter instructor, taking the back roads after the harbour bridge, of course, so not to exceed my 70kmph maximum speed. :nono: Slowly but surely improving my riding skills, signed up for the upcoming BRONZ course too (all thanks to this forum and justsomeguy).
The next bike i'd like to purchase is a 600, and the choice is going to be difficult when the time comes, there's so many great bikes to choose from!
Who ever has read this far thank you.
Anyone interested in helicopter tours, heli-fishing etc (anything you can think of a helo can do) don't hesitate to send a PM or email and i'll see what i can do. Its not cheap but it's well worth it.

Welcome to KB fella, tell me............. whats the differance between a GPX250 and a ZXR250? just learnt the other day that the ZZR250 is a twin, never had these choices in the 80's was either a CB250t or rs or a GS250.... no one ever considered a XS250 :Punk:

GPX is a twin, and zxr is an inline 4 and highly tunned.

Welcome to the site mate, the GPX is an absolutely awsome bike, I did a review on it http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=12313 and I think they are the best bike built for learners! you made a good choice, keep safe and have a good time!

Loving every minute of riding, like a kid with a new toy, but i don't thnk i'll be bored in a month and find something else to keep me amused. No, if you're like most of us in here you'll never get bored of motorcycling...it gets better with experience believe me.

The next bike i'd like to purchase is a 600, and the choice is going to be difficult when the time comes, there's so many great bikes to choose from!Like you Reno I was thinking about upgrading to a bigger bike shortly after getting my first 250cc...waited for 9 months though!

Welcome to KB btw. :niceone:

Hi and welcome. With an intro like that I am sure you will get some interest. Like me :D I have never been in a Heli. and it is something I have always wanted to do. If there are other KBers out there who are interested maybe we could put something together.

Enjoy the bike and site :niceone:

You'll love it, Tazman!
I'd never been in one until July last year (in Queenstown, flying up to do some snowmobiling :niceone: )
It was great! (So were the snowmobiles!)

Welcome to the Kiwi Biker gargre, Reno! :spudwave:

Cheers for all the feedback team.
The company I'm flying with is Heli-flight NZ, check out the webpage http://www.heliflight.co.nz if you interested.
Cost wise it approx. $500/hr for a small machine that can take 3 people including the pilot and $2000/hr for a machine that can take 7 including the pilot. Sounds expensive but you can cover a lot of ground in an hour (small machine cruises at approx. 70kts and the large one at 110kts) and we can pretty much land anywhere we want (landowner permitting). There are some good pics on the website where we go heli-fishing out in the Hauraki Gulf.

Speedmedic: I'm living in Hillcrest at the moment, don't know of the guys you speak of but have probably met them, or will sooner or later.
