Blardy hell Shaun, that's pretty crappy (the op thing being canned).
I had an op cancelled on me last year, but they hadn't given me the premed as they were a bit concerned the doctor (who was always early) hadn't turned up. The one sick day a year he takes, and I had to go through the whole crap again.
If you're going public, you'll probably have a letter in the mail tomorrow/Monday telling you when to turn up again.
The good part of it is the fact you didn't have to eat their crappy food today :)

Sounds like you have experienced first hand the improvements the National Govt are initiating (making) the DHB's do ie cutting services. It piss's me off that no face suits impose cash restrictions on our health service and demand that services are either kept or improved. The reality is not possible and when services do suffer they are no where to be seen and when challenged blame anybody else but themselves.
They give out tax cuts, claim part of it back in GST instead of investing in the very services the people of this country need. They claim they have made cash available to the health sector but the reality is DHB's have had their budget cut by millions of $. People have lost their jobs, the work they did has been passed onto other's who are already doing a full time job and we all know who will be blamed when the system fails (well fails more than it is already!!)
Look out guys, a loss of services is just the beginning.
Sorry your op got bumped mate, fingers crossed for next time.......................but dont hold your breath!!
