I just bought a pair of NEOS Adventurer overshoes off TradeMe, 2nd hand but only briefly used in Antarctica. Everybody on the net who has written about these say they are the bees knees in winter, go over your boots. Particularly for the devil-may-care people like myself who prefer to wear work boots rather than bike boots.
There is another pair of NEOS up there from the same seller, the more substantial ones with (removable) studs and insulation to -28 degrees C, for $100, studded ones are not so useful to me but I bet these would be bloody good in winter if you just want to wear them on the bike.

I'm not related to the sale, and have not got mine yet (only bought today) so can't vouch for the seller, just giving a heads up for you guys since they are stuck away in a very non-obvious category at TradeMe and I imagine that's they only reason nobody else has snapped them.
