View Full Version : Woman dies at "Wheelie school"
A woman who was learning how to do wheelies died when she fell off her bike as she practiced.
Police said Leslie Duco was learning how to do a wheelie at a class operated by California-based On One Wheel company at Orange County Airport. She lost control of her vehicle, which hit the ground and skidded. She was rushed to hospital, but died later in the day.
Police are listing the cause of death as accidental. Duco was wearing a helmet.

They have a school over here too , Thinking about going along for the fun of it , Have done a couple of "accidental ones" , but couldn't pull a wheelie so save myself. A mates coming over in Sept , has booked him self into this one and the superbike school (He's the later side of 40) .Think I'll be doing the same.

Have you got any details of them, haven't heard about any? Me and I am sure most others will appreciate if you could give out some contact details if you have them.

I think a wheelie school is a good idea. Sure, there are risks involved as can be seen in this article, but it would probably prevent heaps of road accidents if people knew how to wheelie properly! God knows how many bikers out there (on the road) like to 'try' and wheelie on a regular basis! :D

Anyone who opens a wheelie school here is going to make a killing! (err, no pun intended!)

I'd love to know how to do a decent wheelie intentionally (the only handful I've ever done were all accidental, with probably the best involving a somewhat hyped up rider leaving behind a somewhat optimistic Commo driver with funny coloured lights on top)

All I've found is the following additional information:
"Sgt. Dennis Barnett said Duco died at the hospital. Autopsy results were pending, and police were investigating what contributed to the accident.
A spokesman for On One Wheel declined comment, but the company Web site said it uses training bikes with anti-flip devices."
