STP, as in Stone Temple Pilots? As in unimaginative, unoriginal, derivative grunge-by-numbers wankers? Thank fuck Soundgarden are reforming. That is all.

STP hit their groove on their second and third albums, Nothing fantastic but pretty good music. I expect the new one to be shit.

Soundgarden on the other hand were in a league of their own, making stunning powerful music until they achieved mainstream success and went to the suck. Badmotorfinger is as good as any album you will ever hear, and none of it can be mistaken for another band or from another era.

Check this shit out from the reunion show.

Soundgarden were never an imitation of anything...and I say that as someone who bought Nirvana's first album because I saw Chris Cornell wearing one of their T-shirts on stage..

We weren't discussing your taste in music, the argument was about the easy-to-establish fact that Soundgarden were an original and innovative band, not a cash-in immitators like the Stone Temple Pilots, or (worse still) Nickleback. You wouldn't check out another band because you saw a member of a band you liked a lot wearing one of their T-shirts? What kind of recommendations do you take?

I think you're wrong about that as well, except for your final two words....
