does it cost for bikes to park at the plaza? the barriers look like would be able to be ridden around, but i didnt see any signs or dedicated parks. dont mind paying if need be, but would rather not if i dont have to. i know i can park by the square, but would rather have a dry seat.

thanks!!

no need to pay, is only one set of bike parks i've found which are under corner of multi story park (corner furthest from square). I've parked in normal parks too though, or find corners where cars can't park and had no trouble

There are dedicated parks.

One off Ferguson St at the corner on the ground floor near the entrance.

The best one is on the first floor of the parking building off Ashley St, right outside the entrance door.

I think you are probably supposed to pay after your free hour, but as you said there are plenty of ways round the barriers. I even saw a car go round a barrier last week.

so bikes are definately free? i dont want to get any fines in the mail or anything. do you just ride around the barrier? interesting that a car got around. we got stung for extra charges the first time we went due to the time it took to load up the damn kids and buggy etc.

thanks heaps!

Last time I parked in the dedicated car park, i found the easiest way to leave, and avoid the traffic was to actually exit via the foot path....
not totally responsible i know, but there seemed to be far too many 4x4 soccer taxi's that couldn't make up their minds, so "Out of There" I was....

yeh last time i was there I did the same, mainly cos I parked down beside the trolleys and couldn't be assed with a 10 point turn :bleh:

I've never taken the bike there. I'm one of those super lazy people... if I have to buy anything that won't fit into a pocket, out comes the car

Bikes are free because first time I used it I made a complaint about to the guys running barriar arms. Didn't like the idea of me having to us the dam thing while on a bike. They said bikers don't pay to use it and to go aound the barriers. Would be nice to have some form of signage to let bikers know. Best part is riding down under the skybridge behind Countdown in a loud V-twin :D

Maybe we are winning a few (minor) parking battles. Here in Levin we have had a terrible time with motorcycle parking. We had a couple of MC parks, but they were on a very steep angle, and tricky to use, so they got converted to standard car parks. Then the new motorcycle parks didnt get put it, as "the man" said they had done a survey (In July FFS) and no one on motorcycles was parking in town. So, every time I went to town, I made a point of using up an entire car park. As did several of my mates. Now we have a dedicated park back, on the corner of SH1 and Queen St. I'd like to think we could claim some credit, but in reality I think the existing park was actually a little small for cars, that close to the corner.

Hmmmmmm, sneaky me - I didn't even know it was free and the only time I've parked in there so far I sneaked out...

yeh i used it properly the first time too, nowhere to put little ticket, hard to get with gloves so I gave up. And I'll see you v-twin under sky bridge and raise you a v-twin caning round the new farmers car-park bottom level :D low roof and walls makes for some good echos

Yup it is free as when i went in the security guy just waved me around the barrier so i thought- `sweet'!
There were no MB parks left so i parked on the footpath and one of the Fluro vestie guys came up and said nice bike......`sweet'.:Punk:
