I'm done with this motorcycle!
First post....been lurking for a while trying to learn stuff.

So my 2008 sportster was idling like crap the other day so I figured since I just got it, it may have been awhile since anyone changed the oil out. I decided to go ahead and change the oil.

I used Mobile 1 synthentic oil like I was reccomended on here.

Anyways, I drain out the oil and noticed it was extremely dark and even after 10 minutes of draining, it was still coming out. I decided to go ahead and flush it to make sure all the bad stuff got out.

I hooked up the hose, ran water through the engine, started it up and was waiting for the water to come out clean (The engine never went above idle so I was told this would be ok).

Anyways, About 3 minutes into this, then engine starts shaking and shuts off. I figured it was all cleaned out so I plugged it up, added the oil and figured I was ready to go.

WRONG! The bike won't freaking start now. This motorcycle has been nothing but trouble for me, I think I am done with it.........

There's a word for it in the computer helpdesk world.

I watched a guy fill his small boat tractor with over 40ltrs of oil once,
He came over to ask if it was ok to run the engine with just enough to cover the rockers or should he fill it to the cap, he needed to catch the tide in a hurry so didn't want to get another drum of oil unless he had to.
Same guy had a sump fire in the same tractor a few weekends later so I guessed fuel type and where to put it should have been his next question?

A mates flatmate a few years ago filled her Mini up, right to the top!. He had checked her oil for her & told her she needed to get some oil to top it up. I think she put the whole 4 litre pack in on top of what was there.

My mates mum did that to her BMW. Then she wondered why it ran like shit.

Oviously his tassles were faulty and he was not wearing genuine OEM H-D underwear.

I prefer 'Carbon Based Interface' (ie 'human'). Use it quite often at work and I can now tell someone that that was their PC problem and keep a straight face

I really really hope that is a fake post.

People that stupid should not be allowed anywhere near motorcycles.

Or the road.

Or anything, for that matter.

A mate of mine once refuelled a diesel tractor (hired, by the way...) with petrol...and then abused the hire firm when it went BANG! They stopped hiring out tractors after that...

Same guy tried thinning water-based paint with turps. Then decided he could separate the turps with centrifugal force - which he was going to apply by whirling the capped can around and around at arms length. Inside the house. I suggested he just go buy more paint...mind you, he was pretty stoned at the time...

Incidentally, I never let him near any machine of mine - most especially motorbikes...

a guy at high school topped up the family tractor with Roundup.
there were two containers side by side in the shed, both were unlabeled, and they had the same color liquid, he didn't even think to give it a sniff.

The only mistake I can see that the guy made was that he obviously did not use a genuine Harley Davidson branded hose. Aftermarket hoses can be very poor quality.
