Good vibrations, bad vibrations

Ok look, so my bike's been in for its 12,000kms service and it purrs along nicely. I have been noticing this engine vibration that creeps in and then smoothens out quickly at about 72-76km/h on the 3rd gear (roughly 4500rpm). It’s a GSXR600. It seems like there is some resonance that’s taking place between the general vibration of the engine and some other part on the bike that’s not properly latched on. But for the life of me cant figure out what it could be. I’ve tightened every bolt I can see and get my ratchet and L keys on!

Has anyone come across these sorta issues? How does one make his ride a bit smoother in terms of vibration. I know some vibration on bikes is natural and welcomed infact, but this lil spike of vibration at that particular speed that I feel through the foot pegs and seat is starting to frustrate me. The bike is 2007 model and in good condition all in all.

Chain links binding perhaps? (my bandit used to do that with old chain at around 110Km/h but completely disapeared when chain got replaced)

Similar thing happens with the K8. I looked at a gixxer website (gsxr.com) and it seems to be very common. In my case I think the fairing has a resonance about those rpm. You can damp it a little by holding the screen. Best thing I have found to do is just roar up through the rev range until it goes turbine smooth about 6k...course you might get into trouble round town at the resultant speed but then hey, it's a gixxer innit! Then you can always keep revs up to and below 4k - works for me in town.
I did read that some dudes have replaced the screws holding the screen in place with rubber mounted doodads of some sort. Not sure I can be bothered with the hassle but it could work I suppose...

Could be Harmonic or whatever, when the revs are complimenting eachother, my hornet does it around 6000rpm in 3rd

Yes, you're right. Holding the screen helps a little, but is hardly ideal lol.. Well its good to know that its purely and minor structural issue rather than engine related. I'll look into the rubber screen holders and see if that helps.

Yeah, I get the same on my K7. I have been applying the Slofox - rev it more - method which works wonders, but makes the cops nervous. Will take a read of the forums and see what fixes are available

If it is the screen you could maybe try some of that press on trim stuff around the edges to damp the vibes. Unless it looks like crap in which case you could remove it. Actually, you should try that first to see if it def is that?

I had the same problem with my K8, and I figured a solution that worked (for me anyways).

Take the screen off, get some of that stick on foam they use for sealing doors and run that round the edge of the screen where it touches the fairing. Tighten up the screen bolts (carefully, they're plastic) and most of your buzzing should be gone.

I've been reading around, forums etc.. True, this is quite a common thing with Gixxers. Most people seem contend to just live with it, probably coz some of them have tried some things and it hasnt worked. Thanks for the posts slofox..

In most cases it seems to be the windscreen, especially in this case since there's aftermarket one installed on my bike. I'm gonna try what cj says just above within the next few days.. Let you guys know how that goes.
