View Full Version : How about a FAQ on lane splitting?

This topic has got to be THE most singly thrashed topic on the site as every new rider wants to know if its legal and a few older riders want to know exactly HOW legal when they get a ticket doing it.

So... how about we compile an agreed (well, a firm majority anyway) response to the problem with links etc so that people can get some advice and we can put a stop to a new lane splitting thread each week (there's a few bald guys on here that don't want to pull anymore of their hair out!)

Actually... Spankme- can you set up a 'filter' (no pun intended) so that any new threads containing the title words 'lane splitting' or 'filtering' are not posted but redirect the user to the relevant FAQ page?

They come from unanswered prayers! If you're talking about unwanted ones it's more like 'promiscuous living'!

Btw, children are supposed to be a blessing! Even you were one once MrM.

Life's too short to be SO strict imho. Hell, if we followed, err, you know, to the letter, we would never smoke, drink, curse, have sex out of wedlock, EVEN think bad thoughts about people...

Hmm, I sometimes think VERY bad thoughts about certain people :devil2: :msn-wink: say no more, say no more

No, you're right I wouldn't. You may be missing my point though. I don't for one second mean that we should all have sex all the time, with everyone and screw the consequences. I mean, if you meet someone and start a relationship, it is irresponsible and illogical to wait until after marriage to have sex. Sex is an important part of a relationship, and if you're completely mismatched it's a bit late to find out after marriage. (Especially since divorce is another no no right???).

I don't smoke, so don't really care about that. Drinking I only partake in when I'm out socialising. I don't see anything wrong with it, I don't abuse it and I am offended at the notion that I'm a sinner for doing so. Don't do drugs either if you were wondering.

I personally think MY values are pretty good thank you, I don't appreciate you implying that they are otherwise. A good deal of the worlds problems are caused by religion, which is what you are constantly preaching as the salvation to everything! I ask you, is it right to raise children as fanatics to propogate the worlds problems?

Don't question my values again please.

(and WHY is it that, (for once) no one is talking about lane splitting!?)Like you say Richard the topic has been thrashed, but if that's one of the first subjects the L-Plate Riders are interested in discussing I say let them ask...they should be encouraged to ask *any* question they like.

When I joined KB one of the first things that lightly offended me was being told that the subject of one of my first threads had been "covered already" and to do a search thru previous threads to find the answers...not very encouraging! This is a Forum, not a Library. :D

true - but the amount of time some of us spend on here and gripe at people making funny noises, we could probably get mistaken for librarians!

but do you not find it a LITTLE tiresome to see a new filtering thread pop up each week?

Besides that, a good portion of the suggestion was motivated by having a clearly defined answer to a generally ill defined question.. new threads typically don't provide any new clarity on these newbie questions unless referred to whats been posted already because I'm sure all of the answers to all of the possible questions are already on here- somewhere!
