I think a few members on site here will have lost their licence at some stage ... either through excess demerits, or court imposed. Now plans are being made to charge a "reinstatement fee" ... to be paid before you get your back.
Plus a few other fee's going up too ... here's the link ...

Mate, hold the fuck on.
Just how much are they encouraging lawbreaking?
There's almost no goddamn repercussions (Aside from the initial fines/court appearances).
This is ridiculous.

The 'fee' does not bother me - bugger all really.
What is bothersome is that they are once again only looking to charge $ with no intention to educate. Why not set up training centers when if you lose your license you must sit and pass a course prior to regaining it. Or have the option of regaining it sooner if you sit and pass a approved training course.
I've already got a teacher lined up for the motorcyle course .........

Im confused. Some of you guys seem to be implying that I can buy my license back if I loose it. I read the article and I got the impression that after loosing my license for the appropriate length of time I would have to pay $65 to get my licensee back.

Lose your licence for more than 12 months ... and you DO have to ... the whole licence shooting match ... L plates/restricted etc ...
Perhaps if you lose your licence for any length of time ... a resit be necessary ...
Wouldn't THAT be a bugger ... :innocent:
Hey! There's a poll of "Do you ever exceed the speed limit?"
I see there is no "Everytime" option.

I didn't even have to do that, and I lost mine for...well, a long time.
It just turned up one day in the mail, and I was back on the road.
There is no way in hell they should have just let me back on the road.

What about when they take over a year to catch up with you (for going over your demerits to remove your license), because they 'couldn't find you' in the house you've been living in for almost seven years, even though they have taken your address off you when they have ticketed you in times before and then after this AND the vehicle pulled up is registered to the partner who you live with....THEN after over a year later they want to come and punish you cos now they've finally pulled finger and got off their lazy arses to track you down to "enforce the law" fucking useless really

Meh, I was sitting in the lounge a few years back, having a coffee, see a cop car pull up outside, put something in the letter box, I wander out while its driving off,Look in the letter box, Its the lazy bastards contact card, informing me that he was looking for me due to excess demerit points and I was unable to be found, and that I had to present myself to him as soon as possible.
Threw that shit in the bin, never heard from them again.

There was this one time that I went to court and some dude owed about $37,000 in unpaid fines. Just how do people manage to rack up that many fines, without the government doing something about it?
The above mentioned character was however remanded in custody following said court appearance.

Sheesh, its because training makes drivers more dangerous.
Making super strict rules, removing descision making from the driving experience, enforcing and penalising those who break the rules or make a mistake.
It's the only way. Exterminate! Ooonst ooonst ooonst ooonst. Exterminate! Ooonst ooonst ooonst ooonst.
