I watched Campbells story last night on one of the mesothelioma (I think) victims who won a High court case to force lump sum payments out of ACC.
Who are now appealing the decision.
This self-righteous prick was insisting how it was their "duty" to appeal.
How it was their "duty" to save the taxpayers an estimated $1,000,000 in these payments. The various court cases will go close to that in costs.
Not a word of ACC's obscene surplus from investments. One might ask why this organisation runs a surplus at all. Especially in view of the way they'll raise levy's at the drop of a hat.
All this was delivered with a display of crocodile tears that was positively sickening.
I really hope there is karma, this guy deserves his.

I didn't see the story, but it is most likely that ACC is appealing just to 'settle' the law - the same reason that litigious corporates, especially insurance companies, are always in court spending more on litigation than any given case was ever worth to them. It's NOT about the case in point, but rather to keep pressure on the law, and always pursue to most favourable precedent.
