I've just received a letter regarding a factory recall on my 1998 BMW R1100S.
Anyone else had one and know what they're looking for?

I'm confused. Since when do manufacturers recall 12 year old vehicles?
F'en hell, if that's right, BMW must be the best company at looking after riders' safety. Honda won't even stock parts for bikes 10yo (so I've been told), so a recall on something so old definitely has to go into the Guiness Book of Records.
Or they stuffed up the recall :)

Haven't had one for my GS (yet). Ford did a recall on my falcon when it was 8 years old for steering rack stud modification (they put a couple of weld blobs on the threads) and it had 250,000kms on it, Almost up to 300,000 now.

Yep, got recall notice for my '06 GSA. Had previously scanned over that recall thread but it just referenced the GT. Will have to get it sorted out next week. Good on BMW.

Wait till the media gets hold of this! If BP ever plug that leak they will run out of news - then Wendy Petrie will be telling everyone how they are recalling all BMW motorcycles back to 1998 in a major recall. And everyone thought BMW's were such nice motorcycles.
