125GP bikes in F3?

VMCC are considering re-introducing GP125 bikes into the F3 feild. We are the only series to have excluded them and I think it was originally done due to the large number of entries we were getting and the speed differentials at different parts of the track. From memory the biggest concerns were gp bikes getting off the line very slowly after qualifying well and those behind them having to take evasive action, and some very aggressive passing maneuvers by GP bikes due to the higher corner speed and the necessity to maintain this.
Should we reintroduce them? We have more space this year and racing is more fun with the buzz-bombs involved? I am primarily interested to hear from those with experience in these classes, but know that this is KB:love:.

The biggest area of concern with the 125s in F3 is the braking area,But I wouldnt think there would be much difference between a 125 and Jason Eastons Tigcraft and thats been running in the class for 18 months now,So why not,Maybe look at allowing 250GPs out there as well and see how it works out???

run them in f3 and not streetstock. off the start they are way to slow then most of the 150s will be a lap down after 4 or 5 laps.

Let them take off first, once they get to splash launch the F3 bikes..................or visa versa

Agreed!

Once they are going they would be ok, I would reccommend starting them before F3 rather than after if they are going to be split as filtering through the F3 bikes would wreck thier race.

Thanks for the replies. Just to be clear, we aren't talking about just letting them on the track at the same time as F3, we are talking about giving them full entry. Qualify and race with the rest of the entrants.

Most of the time in south island we have 125's and F3 in the same race. Never caused any problems that I can remember. Last meeting at Levels me and al hoogenboezem were racing head to head, covered by 0.1s for most races, made for great racing!

We have always run the 125s in F# down here. If the start is an issue, do a split start with the 125s off the front to reduce the passing problem. Personally I think it'd be a far better idea than running them with streetstock!!
