Not over yet.... Their Doctors get paid a lot more than ours....
Michael Schumacher broke his leg (Both Tibia and Fibia) the same time I did mine (Same bones).. He was racing two rounds later, while I couldn't walk properly for 11 months... Yes, we both got pins in them.
Granted though, it is the busiest part of the season to do it.....
For Lorenzo to win the championship, he still has to race..

If Lorenzo goes on to win the title (which I'm sure he will do) everyone will say it's only because Rossi crashed. Which is a shame. While I'm sure he won't want to win the title that way, it's the way it goes sometimes. Gotta stay on the bike to win. Ask Stoner.

Lorenzo was ahead of Rossi on points, and he has come from behind and passed Rossi in the past races. If Lorenzo wins the champs most people will give him the credit he deserves.
The big surprise to me was that it was Rossi that has crashed out, I was expecting Lorenzo to throw it away, as he has been pushing really hard this season.

So I've read.Seems odd to me. If you're the greatest of the great...you should back yourself to beat anyone else no matter what they're riding. Maybe even better if you're on the same equipment. Better than having your opposition on a better bike if you're already worried about him. I'll be interested to see who they put on Rossi's bike now.

If you wan't to see a winger look no further than Stoner, he as good as anyone else in the paddock at pulling out the excuses. Even if Rossi was complaining of a sore shoulder you can't say he was'nt out there giving it his best shot. Whatever, it's kinda mute at this point. Lets see if ya mate Stoner can get his shit together and start winning again, he's got one less rider to deal with out there for a while at least, now is the time to make hay. The series is not at its strongest as it is - will it suffer low viewership (less sponsorship) as a result of one rider not being present over the next few monthes?

He is referring to the rule that says no factory that has a satellite team is allowed a rookie to race for them. Not sure if that counts on one off rides though. Spies or edwards would be the logical options, not sure who would ride for the tech 3 team then though. Maybe one of their moto 2 riders?

This thread is becoming pointless - as individuals are choosing to call 'excuses' for what they couild easily have chosen to call 'explanations''.
Afterall , those that follow the sport (and that's everone here) is interested in knowing the reason for what's happened and why.
So when you read a rider's account, think about whether it's a 'reason' or an 'excuse'. But many just choose to grab the chance to bag the rider they love to hate..............

Yeah it's absolutely incredible that he's not been injured before now. You yourself know that it's generally only a matter of time until you smash something up pretty badly! Sill, Doohan won five titles on the trot after nearly losing his leg. I know he was at the start of his 'time', but was still pretty mentally strong to do what he did. Be interesting to see if Rossi still has the desire to keep throwing himself down the road now he's done this.

Here's a twist that interested me crasher - I agree with your comments but what if your having to give way your perceived advantage??
I was listening the the pommy commentators in one round discussing that Rossi was unhappy sharing all his setup info within the team. The implication was that Lorenzo wasn't doing enough or wise enough and riding in on the coat tails of Rossi's bike intuition and development! Whether or not this is true is pure speculation but it will be very interesting for me to see if Yamaha can maintain its place in the order of things without Rossi riding. And Lorenzo can still dominate or be as successful. I credit Schumaker and Rossi's success as much to their garage input as to their on track expertise.
I'll miss Rossi imho he's the greatest rider that ever was! But this could well be a more interesting session from this point on. Let the competition begin!!!

Yeah maybe last season...but Lorenzo and his boys seem to have got the hang of setting up the M1 this year. In fact...maybe it was better set up than Rossi's at the two rounds where he smoked him? Rossi has taught alot of the others how to 'think" their way around a race track and apply race stategies for the duration of a race. As you know Shaun - balls out at every corner, every lap only last so long aye !, ask Kevin Schwantz......

so he has a broken leg (not fully repaired obviously), still in pain, jumps on a bike he hasn't raced before, does 26 laps and sets a time that puts him in the top 15 (race results) at the last wsbk round there. while having a ride to see if he feels comfortable, granted it is a well sort out yamaha factory wsbk bike, but you can't dismiss that the guy is all class.

Possibly, but if he has metal plates in his leg (thats what I have) apparently you can start moving again really soon. (i didn't realise this). If you don't you lose muscle mass and tone. And that takes a long time to get back. The bones won't move once pinned. Sure, he probably shouldn't actually race as I imagine he is still bruised from the crash. But this will give him a really good idea of where he is. If his doctors were seriously concerned he would not be allowed to ride. I bet it was pretty well controlled. And the danger would have been if he came off again. Not so much aggravating the existing injury. I think those guys get far better care than you or I would! Still ballsy though.

I'm not a surgeon, I don't know what treatment he's receiving, I can't comment on whether it is too soon or the right time, but I can say what a fucking hard cunt he is. Only a month since his accident, and he's considering a return in Germany. And who says he can't win? I don't think he will, but (and I haven't seen Catalyuna yet) if Lorenzo was to have a season ending accident and Rossi had a fantastic return, who could tell huh.

I shouldn't have made that crack about the Kwackas. I've always regarded them as manufacturers of bikes with serious power. I remember Simon Crafer & co right up near the pointy end of WSBK.

All the same Toseland and Crutchlow will have be ordering smaller helmets in the near future.

Latest Word From Rossi
"I'm really excited that my doctors think I can ride this weekend. Tomorrow I will see the medical officer and then we will have the final decision. I felt good on the R1 but I know my M1 at the track is a different thing and it will be hard for me, but I miss my bike and my team and I want to try. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone and being back in the paddock; I was tired of being at home! Wataru will be there as well so if there is a problem he will ride my bike again."

He still is a gifted champion, nothing has changed there, time may or may not have moved on, I think it'll be at least half way through next years season to see wether he still has the magic and needle sharp racing mind and skills he's famed for. He and Rossi too maybe one day will be surpassed but until then Schumacher is the greatest F1 driver ever, Rossi the greatest GP bike racer and Loeb the greatest Rally driver, the facts and figures speak for themselves.
