Nice RM-N Crasher ....and I'm jealous, shame I can't find any pic's of my old YZ-B project ..but, still looking, they're there somewhere !
Here's all I got left, have fun with the big bad RM mate, you're a bad man .....:shit:

Very nice mate. I've had around 6 or 7 KX500's over the years. Never had a CR500, but did own an 83 CR480 for a wee while. RM400's are fucking tame by those standards, but still fun. Was originally gonna sell this RM, but might have to keep it after all and sell my super low hour one instead.
Look after those big smokers mate.

That's one stunning lookn' rebuild crasher and I know good things take time, but fer crying out loud the ice age was quicker. The heater in the pic is a nice touch too.
Spectro are holding a couple of natural terrain rounds over the next couple of months (vmx class included)and some wickedly fast tracks are planned further on afield up north.
Heres a ride I prepared back in 2004...all done from whoa to go in less than a month.
Hopefully it'll help get the lead out...

Yeah well I've got a real low hour RM400N coming from California, along with that 79 CR 250...so hopefully I'll get to some meets soon enough.

Not sourcing the 'new' bikes from a guy called Marty in CA ? just curious........

Nope. The CR and the 125N for the girly friend are coming from Ohio, and the 400N from a guy by the name of Larry in Auburn California.

Wow.
That looks better'n new!
Had a mate with an earlier model of one of those, back in 1976-ish (must've been a 74, I guess). Had a wee ride on it, was heaps faster than my MT250 Elsinore, but he was running de-sprung front forks with air valves in them, and had a blown fork seal, so the ride was crap....
Blew a fork seal myself on the same ride (one of the Roger White organised rides at Ohakuri). I missed a marker, and ended up doing one loop twice. It was pretty eventful: the spare gas can in the backpack sprung a leak, so petrol was pissing down my back, and a big rock on the forestry road cracked the magnesium side cover. Here was me, blithely riding back'n'forth through a river crossing, unaware that the points cover wasn't waterproof after all. Luckily, most of the crossing was with the front wheel in the air, so no water got in.

Wow wow wow and wow..I'm jealous now :Punk:
Had one of these in the early 80's. It was flogged when I bought so a mate made a new sleeve for it and recond the top end. It ended up way more torquey than original with the custom ports.
And I had a light kit put on with rego and warrant :shit: Used to pass the work bus through the Himo Gorge on one wheel and very scary in the wet......
Really nice crasher

Hahaha...nice one! I had a 400C (78) as a kid...but it was always the 79 'N' I wanted. I've got some Fox Air Shox, and a 43mm front end off an RM500 for this bike for race duty. I'll put the stock suspension away. I've got a mint RM400N for sale if you wanna join in the fun!

I had a PE175N back in the day, and that 400 brings back a few memories.
Like my DG stickers kit and dodgy shocks...

ooh aah tempting ...just bought my daughter a small dirt bike for her 10th Birthday coming up. If she is into it I would have to buy an off roader to go on rides...the 400 might be over the top for that though ............teh heh heh...

Nah. The N's are a pussy cat. They're only 44hp I think from memory...and just really flat. Nice torque curve. Easy to ride.

Mate...I didn't build it. I work six days a week and don't have the time or motivation to do such things!
So if you know anyone that wants ANY model vintage RM built to the same quality...let me know.
I'm simply gonna race it and wreck it. It'll be here before too long.

how would you rate an RM500 crasher, not as good as the 400 I presume, but no doubt just as rare and hard to restore.....I saw quite a nice one at coleman Suzuki a year or two ago with an ohlins rear and disc front for only 4k.....was quite tidy too although it didn't sell very quickly, never had one myself but have had 77,81 and 88 250-all have been gd bikes imo

RM500's are choice...but only have a four speed box. Great for racing moto-x...but not so much chop for anything else.
