any of you put aftermarket speakers in your doors?
what size have you put in?
the door area looks pretty shallow and i am not sure if any ol speaker will fit.
i can get spacers for there but i dont really want to take up any more room in cab space for legs

Just cut your holes and try it, and use the smallest spacer you can get. Also look at the depth of the speakers you can buy. Unlikely you will need more than +10mm, and thats not going to protrude too far into the cockpit. A quick squirt of matte black paint and the whole thing will look invisible.

Will they not fit in the existing speaker mount points with the door covers over top?

the stock ones are mounted in the dash part and they are 4 inch . looking at door closer today i dont think i will be able to go very big at all. if i use spacers i think the window wonder will hit it . it might be easier to just leave it .

Talk to a car audio company...there are speaker companys that produce shallow speakers.
You will get better advice from them....than on a motorcycle forum!!

Yeah many vans are a prick to put speakers in. It's a shame, coz all the good speakers are are 6.5".

Have a look through Jaycars' car speakers. There are some 4 inch ones there, and I think you will be surprised how good they are. Add yourself an amp like this and I think you will be surprise if not shocked at the results.

Add a sub to round the sound out and fill it a bit, and you have a sound package on the cheap that you will be proud of.

You might as well forget about having speakers in the factory door panels. As it has already been suggested, have a pair of decent 6X9s somewhere in the back. Then have a couple of 12" subs in the back or a single 15" sub hooked up to a decent amp. That should, in theory, be enough to annoy the neighbours at 3am.

First you cut a hole in the door panel for the speaker.

But it doesn't line up perfectly with the hole punched in the door steel. So you make the hole a bit bigger.

Then you can put the speaker in, but now the screws that are supposed to hold the speaker in miss the metal. It will be OK just screwed into the cardboard door panel though eh ?

Then you try to get the cable back to the stereo. It wont go through the little hole, so you push it through with a screwdriver. Then you fix the wire to the central locking, that you tore off when the screwdriver slipped.

The wire is through now, all you have to do is take the kick panel off, but its quite tight. Eventually the plastic screws shear off, and you can get inside it. It will be just fine glued back on, so you wire it to the stereo, and glue the kick panel back.

Some of the glue drips on the carpet and gets covered in fluff. No one looks down there anyway.

Repeat for other door.

Now its cool, turn it on great soundz.

Cruise down town, cool, some chicks on the pedestrian crossing, so crank up the volume.

Hmm they can't hear us, better wind down the window, so they can.

Fuck, window only goes down 4 inches.. hitting the fucking speaker.
