Howdy ive been riding almost two years now most of that on a GN250. Got rather bored but have been too lazy to get my restricted so i bought a 1990 gsxr 250. Which is a little bit awesome when it wants to start XD. Loving riding, always have. I comute everyday on my bike and go out on weekends for rides for fun. Hate having to drive cars now and laugh at boy racers as they try race a bike.

hey mate. what'd you get the bike for? just out of curiosity... :) i bet you love it way more than the GN. i guess if in doubt just take the gsxr into your local mechanics and see what they say?

Get your full ya lazy bugger. Then you can buy whatever you like.

Personally I fail to understand why they allow drivers and riders to continue for years and years on a learners - you should have to pass your full within a max of 24 months or start again.

Yeah I wanna get a proper service for it. Done the plugs and chain but dont have the money for a full service. I paid a little over 2, its done 35k.
Hey do u realise how much effort it takes to drive to a AA and book a test let alone take it!!haha

congrats on the new ride. Take it to your LBS to get that starting issue sorted you wouldn't want it to not start if you were in the middle of nowhere.

hmm, well if i could be more help i would. perhaps post your issue in one of the bike mechanic areas? as maybe the people in the know don't check new member speak for mechanical issue stuff. might be wrong though.

Hey there lawrence, sorry to hear ya bikes giving you grief. whats actually happening when ya try and fire it up.
dose it wind over and just not fire or dose it suck the life outta your battery? whats the deal little buddy?
Oh and welcome to kb im a newbie here to.

uhhh it winds over and the battery lasts a fair while but it just doesnt fire. Ive replaced the battery as i've been told its a common problem with gsxrs that the battery will run the starter motor but wont fire the plugs due to a bad battery. However ive replaced the battery and still having problems its just flooding so qucikly, if it doesnt fire within the first wind of the starter motor it wont start and will flood. I have a feeling it needs to be tuned as i think it may be running to rich in petrol but any ideas would be good.

ok mate it sounds like you need to adjust float levels in your carbs, so if its flooding you will also have to look at your plugs again cos they would have carboned
up so you will need to give them a scratch up with a bit of 400 grit sand paper, not too much tho cos you can make the gap too big and they will be getting soaked by fuel aswell . Once ya done that try fitting a better air filter so there's more oxygen to ignite the fuel. Just a bit of time and a couple
of bucks and I wreckon she'll be right as rain. I had the same problem a few years ago with my zxr. Give that a go mate and good luck.

Oh one more thing, if the tip of your exhaust is black inside then yes its running too rich which will mean your plugs will definately need a clean.
Don't pay some one to work on it cos they will just take the piss outta you and your wallet for something so simple.

I was on my learners for 17 years before picking up another bike and riding again. Did a BHS course and nearly failed the faux test at the end. I have to agree.
