Hey guys
In the weekend some F$#@wits broke into my brothers car while we were out and stole my wallet, cell phone and keys!
my problem is i only had one key for my cbr600RR as i have only had it 2 weeks and my insurance only got finalized yesterday. and they wont cover it as the theft happend in the weekend.
So i now i need to sorce a new key, ignition barrel and ECU.
from Honda im looking at $3,500.
My question is does any one here have a written off cbr600RR 04 or spare key, ig barrel and ecu lieing around or no of any one that has one. possible from a crashed race bike maybe?
Moral of the story, (which im learning the hard way) is get insurance strait away!
any help would be amazing,
Regards
AJ

So Honda can't order you in a new key and program it for the transponder?
Also, you're forgetting boot and fuel tank locks if you need to get a replacement.

Do you know what dealership the bike was sold from. From new the lock has a unique 8 digit code
A decent dealer will have a record in their service history ... well Boyds HN did for my 05 Hornet
Find this code
Go buy a Real Honda blank
Find a Real locksmith ,give him the code & he will cut key
Go back to Honda shop with code, key & bike, They will code the new key into the CBR computer
and all fixed for less than $150
Its only if u cant find the code that you are up for big dollars.. . ..So best of luck :)

Hey mate,
Only problem is to be able to code a new key cut, you need to activate the ecu. which only activates when a coded key is inserted. then you can plug in to the ecu with the honda computer and code an uncoded key.
but if you dont have a coded key at all, or only a key that has been cut to the ignition barrel but not coded, it wont activate the ecu to turn on.
A REALLY GAY SYSTEM!!

Hey mate,
Only problem is .........
From my enquiries ALL you need is the 8 digit Key Code.
Locksmith cuts genuine Honda CBR Key***. Yes still wont activate ECU.
Take Key, Key Code and Bike to Mr Honda who plug into you ECU with the special Mr Honda software and they program into you ECU the new Key using the majic 8 digit Key Code.
Tis that simple ... only fly in the oikment is your ECU can only accept ?? (small number like 3) ?? new keys in its life after that you are up for complete replacement. Many $'s
*** This genuine Honda CBR key has its own unique magnetic signature which once added to the activated list in your ECU you'll be back on the road.
Pivotal to the whole drama is finding the 8 digit security code unique you your bike IF you cant find that you are screwed :(

Bugger..thats why i had another key cut for my hornet straight after i got it.....
Do the US 600's run the HISS,i know they didin't on the CB900.
so if all else fails you could try that.

Could be the way to go ...... If you have to go that way check out ebay link .. but best ask specifically if they run the HISS

You would still have to find a trusty locksmith to make up a key for your existing lock ... but guess that goes without saying
