Hi there,

I just bought a Volty second hand. When I bought it I asked about how the fuel reserve worked (I'm new to bikes, previously had a scooter) and he showed me.

Having looked a bit closer though, I'm not sure he's right, and I want to make sure I'm doing it right so I don't run out of fuel with no reserve in the tank.

The Volty reserve switch is circular, with "Reserve" at the top of the circle and "On" at the bottom with "Fuel" on the left and "Off" on the right. The switch itself has a handle running all the way along it with what is clearly a pointing end to point to the option you want. You can turn it all the way up and down, and point it to the right, but not point to the left.

To switch the reserve off, do I make sure the switch is pointing to "Off" or "Reserve"?

Realise this is a bit complicated to explain but I'm hoping it's a generic thing that's the same on a lot of bikes. I can't find a user guide online anywhere.

Cheers

Lee

Hey Lee...the tap will have a lil arrow cast into it. Point that to the part of the tank you wanna use.

Sounds like you've got it sorted anyway, main = down, reserve = up, right = off.

I'm not sure what you mean by reserve off, but the way it's normally used is to run on main until it runs out, turn the switch around to reserve to get you to the next gas station, then back to main again.

Off is normally only used if you're taking the tank/carbs off so you don't spill fuel everywhere, unless things are a bit leaky and you want to turn the fuel off in the garage.

Right cool, so "Off" does actually turn the fuel off.

so:

RESERVE
FUEL OFF
ON

I want to point it down to run as usual, and up to use the reserve...
