I don't know how good they are as an insurnace company, but Protecta seem accomodating for track days, so most likely training days too

That is very good to hear.
Re Insurence: If your company doesn't recognise the benifit of a Rider Training Day, then I would suggest that you find one that does.
After all, the training day makes you a better rider, therefore less likelyhood of a claimn.
The mare fact the training is done on a Closed Circuit should be of no consequence.
Shop around for your insurence.

Absolutely - I too highly recommend attending one of these courses. Very well planned day, with excellent mix a bit a of theaory, lots of practical sessions, and a stupid amount of fun!
State covered me both times when I attended. It was a bit of a battle but they finally came through and gave me the go ahead.

Weird. When I contacted State about cover for a Training Course at Ruapuna, they blatantly told me to read my policy and note where it says "you are not covered for any riding on a track". No discussion. End of story. Needless to say I am now with another insurance company.

Learnt lots and brushed up on the basics. Was suprised at just how far I could lay the ER over and just how late I could leave the braking. Tutors were very helpful and got me doing things I didn't know I could do. Well worth the $$$$ spent. Even lucky with the weather, just a bit breezy at times.
Mrs Berg even had the GN humming and the scrape marks under the exhaust will attest to just how far she had it layed over.

On these courses, what do you do? Had a look on the website but just a little confused of what you on the level one.
The reason I ask is my partner has just got her licence but is not too keen to got for a ride at the moment because we live in a quite busy area (Not the best for learning). She can ride fine but is still in the "Having to think about how to ride while riding" phase which we all were at the start.
So the idea I had was for her to do the course at Puke so she can make riding more second nature before she heads out in with the cages.

Level one course would be perfect for her. Mrs Berg has only been riding for 5 months (same can ride well) but she got heaps out of yesterday as did I and I have been riding for years. They do braking, cornering and other tecniques as well as teaching you what is possible on your bike. A big recomend from us.

To add to that, it is Lady's only on the October course.
Great to hear positive comments from yesterday.
An enjoyable day for all.
