Can someone shed light on this:

If someone wanted to move to Australia and needed to move two bikes, hypothetically say a CBX and a race bike - what is involved with each.

The CBX isn't pre-72, and it's modified - so it has to get approval. But how do you gain approval.

The race bike isn't road registered, obviously, and if it was an offroad bike it'd be easy.

the personal car allowance (1 vehicle and the pre 72 have already been filled)...

Thoughts, advice?

Email Australians Customs.

They are the who should know and the ones you will dealing with if you get them there.

CBX as private road vehicle
GSXR track bike as exactly that, but know that it'll likely never be registered in Aussie.

wouldn't recommend it - the cost involved when you get them there just isnt worth it.
They have to be inspected, ( cost ) and licenced ( cost ) and then there is the percentage of what the bike ( s ) are worth + insurance to pay on top of that.
When you take it all into account ( plus the cost of getting them there ) it would have to be a collector type to consider it worth while.
And there are some bloody good bargins to be had there.

This site (http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/importing_vehicles/general/EligibilityCriteria_2.aspx#five) is good and so is this one (http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis/import/vehicles-machinery/motorcycles).
