Placing graphics

Hi all

anyone have any ideas or experience for installing graphics kit?

wet or dry??

Iv only ever done dry, never had any problems. If installing on a tank, empty tank and let air for at least a week or youll get bubbles even if the graphics have air holes.

the way iv done it is to line graphics up, cut the backing off a corner and stick it to hold in place. then slowly go from one side to the other, making sure of no air bubbles and using a heat gun. I cut the backing every 2 -3 inches i go as it gets in the way.

I put the ones on my boys Ktm straight on dry! Used thinners first to wipe it down but I hear Iso?? Alcohol is the correct stuff.

When I was a Panelbeater (in the old days) we put the car decals on wet. Get 1/2 bucket of water and put only two drops of Lux liquid in.
Wet the cleaned surface and you can apply and move the sticker around using a plastic spreader to work out the bubbles.

I don't know if this technique still applies but that's the old way??

i used a hair dryer to heat the suckers up first since it was pretty thick stuff. made it way nicer to work with and it stuck bloody well

I've put on wet vinyl. Too much water and you loose all the stick. Smooth it out with the plastic spatula without stretching it.

If you want a nice job, get a signwriter to do it for you. It will be all over in 60 seconds and you get a nice finish.

i always do it dry, i cut the paper backing down the middle to create a small strip so i can start from the middle and work out to the edges,

+1 for what reckless said. In the trade we used to get a water spray bottle with a couple of drops of dishwash liquid and put a mist of water on and scrape with a plastic scraper.

Just finished my boys bike - wasn't to difficult but you can't rush fitting them.
Don't be afraid to peel back and have another go if not positioned correctly or bubbles.

you can put them on wet or dry... depends on where you are putting them to the best option

DON'T PUT THEM ON IN COLD CONDITIONS!!! because they are more britttle and harder to work with and if you use water the water will kill the adhesive easier...

so do it inside a warm room... if you have to bend it over curved areas then you will need a heatgun or a hair dryer to warm the vinyl up to help it conform to the surface you are installing it to...
