So bout time I stopped feeling sorry for myself and put one up haha
So saturday, I was riding a new bike again, I thought to myself that I was going to go slow, take it easy, new bike, it was a little damp, cold and it was only practice/qualifying. I was on my 3rd lap and still not pushing it at all (the back felt a little loose) and I go down in the hair pin. Billy thinks it may have been as my front brakes were dragging
I have no idea what happened, I was pretty gutted cos it meant I had only one lap for qualifying and expected to start from last!
Turns out that one lap was enough to get me to 10th on the grid which was all good.
Race one: No damage to the bike I thought, but as I was going out to race the clutch felt like it was engaging when I had the clutch in and revved it over 4k rpm, I had to be push started 3 times on the dummy grid, got round to the starting grid and the same thing was happening. I got all flustered and couldn't think what to do, my starts are terrible at the best of times and I had to deal with this too, I put the front brake on and revved then thought that wasn't going to work, the let the bike stall....I had to be pushed off the start grid :weep:
The no points race at the end of the day I was going to go out as well but then my kick starter got jammed on and I couldn't go out then either!
Sunday
Race 2:
I was nervous to say the least, after my crash and technical problems I was not that confident. Normally I do ok in the wet but this time I rode terribly! I managed to pass a couple of people in the first couple of laps and stay upright which was great because there were a lot of crashes.
My lines were terrible.....I think Casey Stoner talking about Randy in Mugello could have been talking about me, didn't touch the same piece of tarmac twice!
Gareth managed to pass me in the last couple of laps, I was absolutely proud of him being my good friend and his first race but gutted that someone else was in front of me too haha.
Think I ended up 7th in 150's
Race 3:
It had dried a little and for once I actually got a decent start (compared to my usual!) I definitely felt like my lines were better and I was riding better but so was everyone else!!!
I was being passed by a few people but managed to keep up in a group of us that were battling, coming out of higgins and my back let go, did a wee 360 and saw another bike coming for me. Luckily for me he chose to go on the grass and went down in a heap instead of running over me. Thank you so much dude, I don't know who you are but you were so sweet coming to ask me if I was ok when I was the one who caused you to crash!!
All I can say that I was so dam gutted that I crashed, all I could think was that billy would wash his hands of me and I was scheming how I could try and get another bike. I will admit that I was pretty distraught, wondering what the hell I am doing wrong to be crashing so much and I was slightly embarrassed coming in on the trailer. But everyone was really sweet and supportive!
A huge thanks to Billy at racefairings.co.nz, god knows why that man isn't sick of me falling off
And for everyone who made me feel better and gave me words of encouragement haha
