Just got home to find my house burgled  Little pricks forced my window and ransacked the place. Strangely enough, they only took my camera and bike gear??? And house and bike keys - arrrgh. This means they have access to my house, garage and bike! Luckily I received a tip from my neighbour a couple of months back that some little gang pricks were checking out my Daytona, and they pulled a knife on her while telling her this!!!
So I put a huge padlock on the front gate which no doubt stopped them from taking everything.
Cops are on the way and the locks will be changed this arvo.
Fuck it. Could have been so much worse though...............

Leave the bike in the garage, don't change the lock on it. Apply 30,000v to the bike, leave a warning sign in a discreet place, cover the windows so it's dark inside, remove the lightbulbs and wait.

Police have some mint footprints and have a rough idea who it is and say he's a dumb amatuer who lives around the corner. Hope they get the little prick, and soon!

And he didn't do any malicious damage either which I'm thankful for. Just a dirty little random POS who's on a roll by the sounds of it. Police say he's been very busy round here lately and my neighbour say the other hard nuts in the district are now very pissed off with him, so they prob know who it is. Thanks all, the locksmiths have just left so at least the place is secure. They'll be back tomorrow and get all the windows done so that'll help too. Seeing the fucker took the keys to the gate padlock I had to have that cut off. Bugger, I liked that padlock too!
Now reading this really makes my blood boil. The friggen audacity of these little shits astounds me. Hang fire making a full insurance claim for a few days, you may be surprised at what you discover missing in the days to come. When we got burgled the SOCO told us to make visable changes to our security as they would come back now they had been here once. Thank goodness you had that padlock on the gate. Thanks Ann  Part of the problem is that I'm hardly at home and I've been kind of waiting for this to happen for awhile. I wish I'd bought bolts for the rest of the windows not just the one that I thought was most likely. That's on the list for the morning and the insurance will pay up $250.00 towards it. Ha. Little bastards damaged the window sills as well. I'm thinking an alarm might have to be the go now, it'll be worth it for peace of mind. I think I've noticed everything that was taken and when I look around at what was not I'm thinking we should ask Mia (the dog) to only rip out half of his throat :niceone:

Tbh, if it's one of the lowlifes that live around here I doubt that they're that intelligent. I think that he just grabbed nice shiney bike stuff. I use to rant and rave about this being illegal as you would be prosecuted for setting a 'man trap'.
However after what happened to my ute and 16 other vehicles in the street, plus property damage by 8, 15 to 18 year olds. both my professional and personal opinions have changed... What pisses me off the most is not the fact they smashed the drivers side window and windscreen. It was the fact that I had to run round getting it repaired, The insurance company (Tower) were great and sorted it quickly when they opened. It was a bonus we had six in custody after four hours using one dog unit and three other units totalling 10 staff who culd have been dealing with serious crime.
The biggest insult is having to attend the FGC which is an absolute joke.

That's exactly what annoys me as well, the messing around and the expense of new locks and insurance. There goes any spare time for the next few days. And I'll get an alarm. AMI were really good over the phone but I'll still lose out on depreciation and excess.
I don't know why they bother with FGC's, these people just don't have the capacity to learn about the consequences of their actions. As the police said, they're just getting worse and breeding the next generation who'll be even lower. So not only have they got my stuff, I'm paying to replace it and all decent tapayers are paying for them to keep on merrily fucking around with those of us who don't even want to share the same planet with them.
Good luck with your lot, at least you know who they are <_<

I'll be around tomorrow Sarge. I'll be running around getting insurance stuff together, ANZA have been FAB.
Quick update. Last night was a bit freaky sleeping next to the window used to gain entry. I'd nailed it up so wasn't worried too much about a repeat performance. Didn't get to sleep for awhile though and had hammer handy. Visited another neighbour today who reckoned that on the night in question someone walked up her drive at 1.00 am. That puts them in the perfect spot to jump the fence, razor wire there might be the go.
Police called and have a date for tomorrow. Windows ALL deadbolted now and I'll deal to the garage shortly. But getting new ignition barrels for the Tiger and topbox ain't going to be fun.
Damned if the little prick is getting his hands on that bike though. This guy is cheap, bikes aint!

After we got burgled a couple of years ago, I did a bunch of stuff to make the place more secure. But if they want to get in they will so I installed a security camera setup.
Just get a webcam and install this free software http://www.novosun.com/cyeweb/freeversion.aspx and get a free bulk email addy from yahoo gmail or wherever.
I already had a webcam so it cost me nothing.
Basically what it does is convert the web cam into a motion detector camera that immediately emails frame grabs when it detects anything.
It wont stop them getting in but you will have photos. Like this http://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/3588271/Web-cameras-snap-intruder
EDIT: And if they take your PC your still safe cos it immediately emails the frame grabs. When testing it, I can see the detector alert and within 10 seconds the emails are in my Yahoo email account.

They may be, they seem to like bikes and gear. My problem is that around here they see me coming and going on the bikes so obviously I 'deserve' to have them nicked.

He's really fucked me off Barry! It's a strange feeling really. On the one hand I'd like to murder the little bastard, but on the other, he was really quite considerate. I mean, he could have totally trashed my house, smashed up all the big things, all sorts of things. But he didn't. Apart from throwing all my clothes all over the room, he left it in a surprisingly reasonable state. I know I used the word ransacked and that was my initial impression, but now I've cleaned that up it's difficult to know it happened. Odd emotions......

Well. They did it again.
Was in Wellie Sat night and got a call first thing Sun morning saying my house had been broken into.
Get back to find that despite very large stickers all over the place the dirty little lowlifes had smashed three windows. First up was the glass in the front door. Thanks to the deadbolt I installed theye got no joy there so moved on to another window with no luck.
Finally, a third window where they managed to sqeeze through a very small gap.
This is where the fun started according to my neighbour
Neighbour calls 111 and goes outside.
It's 5 am Sun morning and the alarm goes off. They must have dropped down into the living room triggering the alarm. Apparantly all hell broke loose as they freaked out and desperately rushed around inside trying to get out. They finally managed to sqeeze back through the window pausing only to take my computer, modem and speakers!
Then it was a frantic scramble over a 6 foot fence and a very loud escape.
Five carloads of police arrive within 6 mins, with dog :niceone:
Dog tracks two guys and they get one who hilariously is running back towards my street.
He has no evidence on him so they can't arrest him - arrgh!
Other one gets away.
I clean up mess and luckily have a spare computer although I have to buy new cables and mouse.
I'm on good terms with the Police forensics man by now and he's back yesterday getting a beautiful shoeprint left on my stereo cabinet.
This pretty much confirms it's the same guy as last time. He's known to the Police, 15 years old, and lives around the corner.
Knowing what the answer will be I ask, can you go round to his house and look at his shoes?
No, we're not allowed to violate his rights. However..............
I'm going to follow this up. I'd recomend that anyone reading this write to your MP and demand that the Police NEED the power to bail these guys up and take whatever evidence necessary to convict them.
As for the guy who did my place, well I think the net may just be closing.

I've just had a long conversation with an officer from the burglary unit.
It seems that juvenile crime is getting out of hand all over the city, the whole country in fact.
The big problem is the lack of a law that allows Police to arrest on suspicion. The UK has this law and it makes a big difference as it allows information to be obtained and prevents the destruction or concealment of evidence while the suspect is held in custody.
This is what the NZ Police need to make their, and our lives easier.
Unfortunately, there is a strong civil liberty movement opposing these types of law changes.
This is what I'll be focussing on when I write to my MP, hopefully some change may eventually happen.
As for my case, now that such a good print has been taken, which matches another 6 or so burglaries around here in the last few weeks, hopefully this guy's days are numbered.

Until the pendulum swings back a bit we are stuck with the little darlings getting away with totally anti-social behavior without consequence.

Exactly. The problem here is that the law in this area lacks that little bit extra that would allow an obviously suspicious person to be bailed up until the suspicion is removed. In this case the police should be allowed to go around to his house and examine every shoe in the place. If they were allowed to take pics when they had the guy at the time it would have been a done deal. The forensics guy mentioned the print may be good enough to get a warrant. If he's dumb enough to wear the same shoes to 6 burglaries then he's probably dumb enough to be still wearing them.
Little assholes!

Got some positive news today. I was at the police station adding some details and when the file came out the officer dealing with it was pleasantly surprised to note that it has been referred to the head of CIB. This means that instead of just being filed for want of evidence or witnesses it is now being followed up on and there is a good chance that the police have something concrete to work with - yes!
I asked why it was so hard to get these guys and it turns out that 'youth' have so many more 'rights' than the rest of us.
BUT, I had the strong impression that this particular youth is about to get a wake up call.

Thanks all
It looks like the long arm of the law is slowly reeling in these fish.
I went to the station yesterday and was escorted into a very large room full of stolen goods :gob:
After a bit of paperwork the officer started unpacking.
First up was my Oxford neckwarmer.
Next, my Triumph leather pants (pockets emptied of course which I was dissapointed by as I had a special gift in them).
Out came the liner from one of my jackets - wtf?
Then two (of 3) Triumph document bags, again emptied of all my maintenance records, reciepts, and BIKE KEYS. Bugger.
And that was it. No sign of the 3 jackets, 2 pairs of pants, gloves, computer, camera, torch and other bits and pieces.
But no worries. I've replaced it all and the important thing is that these guys will now be in very hot water!
Police update due next week :Police:
And yep, the gear now belongs to AMI. However, I will be invited to tender for it, hmmmmm :)

Shame about the keys and service records Al!
You may be able to bypass the tender process. I offered them $20 for my old helmet and they jumped at it. Removed visor, liner, side-pods etc and then beat the helmet to death with an axe. That alone was worth $20!:D

I don't really care about the lost gear persay, I'm just glad that a few scum will be taken out of circulation for awhile. I'm looking forward to the outcome, most interesting. Mate, all I can say is buga.
It's a sad state of affairs, and happens so very often. Back in the day break in burglers were fairly discrete and were just after goodies.
These days they are teeny bopper ass crunchers just out for a thrill and to cause some chaos. The make a mess, leave deposits of excrement, and vandalise and graffiti whatever they can.
The law does nothing to curve it really, and the punishments are usually a slap on the hand with a wet bus ticket..... And if you heaven forbid maim or injure an intruder in the process you will most likely end up worse off than the offender..........
The system sux, and the burglars/ intruders have a 70% chance of getting away scott free, and if they are the unlikely 30% that are caught, the cops confiscate the gear and auction it off for a profit..... And the crim gets a slap on the wrist and walks..... cause most of em are too young!
Glad to see your punks got caught, hopefully they have a history and will be on the new 3 strikes list and locked away for a long time.

I had an old Triumph years ago...
Didn't have a key. Was revving it in neutral (on the stand) when the cable jammed with both carbs wide open. Grabbed the plug leads to yank them off. 33,000V up each arm.
