Bloody Road Lice ... I'm beating the feet for three months 'cause I got too many speeding tickets ...

Got caught at 136 klicks across the Napier-Taupo Road ... lucky, 'cause just after I went passed the radar I didn't see, I opened the throttle ... cost me a lot of money and 50 points .. which gave me a total of 125 points inside 24 months ...

Why can't the be out catching crims rather than harassing us rising at sane and safe speeds !!!! I wasn't even in top gear !!!!

First post eh!

And you are complaining about the cops doing their job!

You take your chances and play the game, obviously you have lost a few times!

Maybe you should find a mate to trailer the bike to a few track days until you are allowed on the road. Do you need a valid license to do a track day?

I would suggest if ya wanna take it to speed.. .leave the country... plenty of countries have no speed limits or do as many say on here... take it to the track (said so many times its not funny any more)...

There's about 25 HP cops in the Taupo/Napier district. They cover about 18 hours a day, 7 days a week. Try and create a roster that has more than 3 cars on the road covering the whole of the district at any one time. Then cover leave and court time.

If you then still can't avoid getting caught, you're a fucking muppet.

If you were a proper anarchist you would refuse to be co opted into the system, you are a free man, do what you want. Just ride anyway, and dont pay stupid rego fees or anything. In fact, remove the number plate from that bike and do a wheelie past that cop, while swilling some Jack and giving the finger. Go on. You know you NEED to. You're an individual, not a sheep. Go ON...

There's knowingly taking a risk ... which I have done many times ... and got away with it ... and then there is downright stupidity. I won't be that stupid any more ... did that many years ago (can't quite wheelie a '63 Triumph 650 the way you can a modern bike) ... at least I learnt to stay out of sight by not being that stupid .. the essence of freedom is survival ... if you rebel too visibly and illegally they even take that away from you ... so I make my choices as a free man ... and I chose to stay as invisible as possible ... and sometimes the radar traps see you anyway ...

Speedos on the Bandits are notoriously out ... I thought I was passed at 140 klicks .. and was very pleased when he said "136 ..." I know that up the hill (passed the radar I didn't see ...) the speedo was showing more than 170 klicks .. so I was very lucky I was not walking on the spot ... the cop said he saw me open it up ... I thanked him for not resetting the radar reading

Well then yungatart there must be a lot of idiots that drive that road as there are a lot that do that speed including Newmans coachlines..Not sure what all the drama is about...Nope not one of the heaviest patrolled roads at all, but in saying that one does have to have caution once passed the Opepe reserve heading to Taupo...speed builds with the freefall from the top...So why do people buy fast bikes? maybe we should all be on scooters, those that buy the fast ones do so for a reason and that would be to run the 'gauntlet trying not to collect tickets',any other reason?

Im fairly sure the speed limit has been 100 kmph for a while now, not sure why so many are slow at learning.

enjoy the walk throttle controller.

im cool with 100 kmph as a spped limit personally, if I go over and I do the thats my issue and fine and penalty, if I get caught.

Its not so much what the safe speed is, its how fast you need to slow down in the event of........... happening, thats why its 100 kmph.

From a faded memory of a documentry somewhere sometime cars are fairly safeish at a collision at 56kmph, they base the 100kmph and reaction times to slow down to 56kmph in the event of............happening so as to get you into this safeish zone if needed. i.e 100kmph + reaction time = 56 kph (averagely of course) that applies to cars, but one rule for all has to apply.

Dont speed if you dont want to walk

Interesting thought follows. (Well, I think so)

The gubbermint internal discussion agencies are looking at what is called a safer system. Basically, they are looking at trying to get our road transport system co-ordinated to mean that when a person makes a cock up, the outcome is mitigated by safer roads cars etc.

This safer system would reduce the road toll, so I personally think that the think tank is heading in the right direction. KiwiRap is part of that concept.

My problem is, if we just support that concept as the be-all and end-all of road safety we miss out on what is the grestest chance to save ourselves, that being the recognition that we are the factor that most influences our own personal safety.

Who can influence my decision to go too fast into a corner, probably on the wrong line? Me.

Who can ride at a distance that means I can stop when the dick head in front of me stops for reasons known only to him? Me.

Who can avoid most head on crashes by staying on my own side of the centreline? Me.

Now, those are things I can influence right now, this second, at no cost at all to anyone.

So there.

P.S. anyone else ending posts with "so there" is in breach of my ineffectual property rights.

So there.
:headbang:

It has always been that way. Yet, the grey men would have it that everyone needs to be saved from themselves. Of course, all that means is that the 'systems' put in place to that end simply allow the motoring public to think even less.
At what point do diminishing returns become obvious?
