Press, press plates, drifts, skill. The dissasembly is the easy part.
Getting it assembled within the correct tolerances is the challenge. If not, it will shake it's booty damn near through the cases.
If you doubt your skills, give to an experienced shop to do it. Stripping the engine down a second time is no fun.
I like some of the XS650 models. Good luck.

I note that TKRJ - a firm making rod kits whose local agent is R2 - lists rod kits for the XS650
So if you find someone local to you who can split/reassemble the crank - it's rebuildable.

Do ya have a manual for it ? I have a compressed file here for 74 to 80 , not too much detail in there but lots of torque settings and there is an engine dismantle and reassemble section if ya want it ! All i need is an email address to send it to ! If ya have a full workshop manual for it ... carry on !!

Ask at a reputable dirt bike shop in your area who does their crank rebuilding.
There are specialist forms around NZ who will dismantle and reassemble pressed up cranks and I'd certainly reccommend using a specialist.
