Action packed last few minutes of qualifying, shame Randy couldn't hang onto the LCR Honda on his last lap as he was in line to put a satellite bike on pole, not that P2's to be sneezed at. Pedrosa's crash looked real nasty and as he was sitting immobile in the kitty litter you wouldn't have been putting money on him racing but seems his ankle wasn't that bad and thankfully for the championship he'll take part tomorrow. Hayden pipping Stoner will keep things interesting in Ducatiland.
Moto 2 threw up a few suprises with Elias only managing 18th and 2nd in the championship Tomizawa 11th.
Suprised how bumpy the circuit was certainly makes for some good slow mo coverage.

hehe that was good fun. de puniet is the man, his bike is outta shape like nothing else in that final sector but it jsut didn't matter. Shame about his crash, but as he said it didn't matter and he kind of expected it.
Lorenzo somehow got the pole but his race pace looked decidedly average. If pedrobot can get to the front he should be able to walk away again. god only knows what de puniet will do??
Stoner looked really really lost on the duke at the end of qauli, never really set a fast lap time at all.
all in all should be an entertaining sunday night

Only caught the last minutes of qualifying certainly a full on period but...............what a fooking shocking state the circuit is in!!!!!!!
Its supposed to be an all new sorted layout but it looks like a goat track in places. I know you have to set up and ride to the conditions, but on a international race circuit you wouldn't expect the bumps and corrugations.

He reckoned the crash was a good thing as it reminded him to back it off a tad for the race!

As a side interest, the support race, SuperStock 1000s, 49 Qualifyers !!!!! the best Josh Brooks,
30seconds off the pole time for Motogp.
BMWs are fast but the front guys are on Hondas. G.

Loris Capirossi tested Silverstone for the Riders' Safety Commission, he said the track was too bumpy and recommended some resurfacing. Even without some of the bumps it'll still be tough on tyres.
On the other hand it's big and it's fast, and reportedly makes Valencia, Losail, and Motegi, look like kart tracks in comparison.
As Matt Oxley pointed out though, Silverstone was a WWII airfield. Spare a thought for the young guys who took off from there, over half of them didn't survive the war.

i gotta say lorenzo's being a real cocky shit, i just cannot stand the guy.
Q: Dani was fast in some laps, but do you think Dani can match your pace tomorrow?
JL: It depends on my mind. My mind is open and it will be difficult for them to catch me. I will try to race like I can qualify.
I hope like all hell im right about my race prediction.

Indeed - he is such a egotistical cock sucker - but dang can he ride. Its quite unfair that he has been bestowed with such talent when I have none!

Hopefully Silverstone is only a stop gap untill Donington is upgraded (it was an awesome track/and will be better) Silverstone is a crap hole...... boring (but fast) to race on.........even worse for spectators......... its soooo far from start line to the furthest granstand (at Stowe corner) you could justify calling a taxi. If i still lived there wouldn,t bother going.....rather watch BSB at Cadwell or Brands.

Why would honda be ringing an aprillia factory rider for advice? and you do realise he's a MX rider?

I think Stoner has given up on the Ducati already seeing that next year he is going to Honda.
Here's hoping he has better luck with Honda than he has of late with Ducati.
I support him what ever he rides.

Just watched warm up, appears casey has overcome his problems on the qualifying tyres and is the fastest
Pedrosa crashed at the same corner oh no!
Aoyama had to be stretchered off
Lorenzo is the man!!! I reckon he is not cocky, a little confident maybe, but why not? He is leading the championship!!
ANd for sure that track is so dam bumpy, makes me nervous watching them ride that fast and getting bounced all over the place

Gutted for Aoyama. Another rider out of the race and another high-side before the apex of the corner
Seems to me that the Bridgstones are very unpredictable when they are not within thier thin band of operating temperature. Whats more, the electronics can't save you by cutting the fuel if your not even on the gas when you highside!

it does appears to often be at the transition point when you release the brake and begin to consider opening the throttle., when you are transferring weight to the rear. These guys should be good enough to counter it, or at the very least know that the bridgy's need some heat to work.
I bet theres some clever dick sitting somewhere playing with some device to help pitch the bike forward, and prevent said knarly high-side.

Speez comes across impressive on and off the bike, that humble attitude works for me. Tracy now has Hayden to worry about.

Yeah, kinda felt for Hayden a bit just pipped at post again, Spies definitely rode an intelligent race though and deserved his placing, crying shame he can't ride Rossi's bike while he's away mending... It will be interesting to see how Spies does at Assen in a few days time considering he knows the track for a change.

Geez Gazza...I've never seen Hayden ride from dead last to 5th like Stoner did! I reckon he did well to keep his head after that horror start, rather than getting flustered and binning it. I'm still standing by my pre season prediction of Spies winning at Laguna Seca too.

That was a brilliant manouvre by Spies on Hayden...gotta feel sorry for Nicky being pipped at the post like that. Stoner did well on his late charge. Gerry Burgess reckon Colin Edwards will take over Rossi's bike.

He seems to be a lot more measured in his passing moves , but somethings going on ?
I don't know whether his head is messed up or he's watching out for his body for next year (if the honda deal is for real) and aiming to stay healthy.
Pity his start wasn't better, getting through the front five would have been the test. It was just getting interesting.Still we'll see what next week brings at Assen.

Spies didnt make a brilliant move on hayden , Hayden ran wide and Spies kept the normal line and gave it a tiny sqirt to actually pass.
As for Colin , i struggle to see why hes on any team , hes not consistant and hes not a winner.

I struggle to see Spies actually winning a race this season but Laguna would indeed have to be his best chance. He might get there by someone else' mis-fortune though. I think a genuine win will come when he's in a works team, then again i'll be happy if i'm wrong, that fella just keeps on impressing...

Yamaha should be slipping him all the good bits (and I bet they are ?) to support Horhay. He's got the bike so it's up to him. At his rate of improvement you wouldn't want to bet against him, but winning, maybe not quite yet ? Tracy might have a blinder at Laguna, even ? lol G.
ps I watched a bit of the race again last night, Tracy looked so focused on the grid in his white sunglasses, angry even ! Flag dropped and it all turned crap.

It may not be a result from the front, but 15th for Simone Grotskyj at Mugello and 14th at Silverstone in 125.
Simone was 2005 Italian champ in 2005, two seasons in 125 (2006, 2007) half a season in 250 (2008) and a major MX training accident in 2009 (ruptured stomach).
So, after 3 years off 125,he gets points in first races back and in both, first Italian home (actually there are only 3 or 4 this season which is strange. Shows how much the Spanish are capturing this sport). He took over from the 2009 Italian 125 champ who has not scored points and has moved a couple of teams.
Simo comes from a regular family in Pesaro so has little money, but is a great guy and has put together a strong network.
The Team Fontana Racing bike is a good bike and the team seems to be a good team, so fingers crossed he can carry on with the good results.
I met Simo in 2006 while working with his sister in the UK. Hung out at a few GPs and got to see the inside of privateer GP teams. It is truly hard work, but if you have a well organised effort it is managable.
So, I count him as a mate and managed to school him in one aspect of racing: FULL NOISE!!!!
Cheers
Steve

According to Gerry, he is a known quantity, would keep the bike intact and not use up any engines. Plus it's probably his last year in Moto GP....

This Gerry is obviously a good mate of yours, to be giving you the inside goss.
Actually, the word I got from Jerry is that "si fuera por mi yo no sustituirķa a Rossi" (http://www.elmundodeportivo.es/gen/20100610/53943034966/noticia/burgess-prefiere-que-no-reemplacen-a-valentino.html).

Yeah, maybe the pressure from Spies but he'd also got a sniff of second... same end result though... outbraked himself and gifted third to Spies. Shame really because from the comfort of my trusty armchair it looked like he'd got him covered. I mean Spies had spent the best part of two laps throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Nicky and had come up with diddley squat.
Spies did have an improved ride though... on the "new to everyone" Silverstone he managed to ride with his peers. The same sort of group he couldn't hang on to at Mugello he managed to hang with here, preserve his tyres, and have a go at the end. Cool.
To get the podium required three of the four Aliens to be AWOL. For him to win at Laguna will require the loss of all four. Shit happens though.
Lorenzo was 8 secs down the road and cruising. Kaycee probably took even more than that out of him. It's going to take more than a bit of luck and the right mental attitude to find that kind of speed IMHO.
Shame Melandri fell off. I think he'd have been part of that tussle. With such a thin field every non finisher is felt even more.
Big step for Simoncelli too. That'll do his confidence a world of good. That pass on Pedrosa... farkin rough as guts :shit:
