Outta the blue a bloke turned up from Queenstown today and made me an offer for my old TLS that i really just had to take, its still out the shed though i feel like i am missing the bloody thing already.Over the last 10 years or so its been packed up and done the South Isle 4 times, maybe 5,its sat up the arse of the latest n greatest inlines over the Pig Route more times than any old V-twin has any right to,its gone the length of the Waitaki bridge twice on one wheel (i had to walk home once),Best times its had have been on the West coast (South Isle) tucked in behind very expensive Ducs and laughing at less expensive Ducs, ive spent some $ for sure on it which has been my choice and enjoyed the results. To sum up the old girl i guess its reinforced my belief that what you ride and how much it cost matters fuck all on the good roads, cheers to the old TLS,they will indeed be one of the great Jap Classics.A few pics from over the years. What now eh,possibly an old Commando?

So do i T,great thing about the old TL was on the good roads in the hands of an old bugger it could still be fun when riding with the latest n greatest, some of the most memorable moments have been when getting off at a pub/wherever and the "wtf do i have to do to lose that old shitta " comments from riding mates, not to mention once or twice going past a couple of Gsxr riding mates still on one wheel whilst there thinking about grabbing a handful of front brake, wonderful old bike the TL.......fuck it,dont start me.

I would buy the old fellas SS in a flash if for sale,as much as i have fond memories of the old thing the fact that my owning it would annoy the fuck outta him would seal the deal.To be honest mate a MK4 was my first thought on the other, convince me otherwise...........

Wow, as others had said that come right out of nowhere. It must have been a decent offer, or one you ah couldn't refuse. Enjoy the process of working out what to go for next.

Wow, that's out of the blue mate. It's not till you actually get around to selling a bike that's served you well and that you have enjoyed riding that you actually realise how hard it's going to be to part with.
Someone has expressed interest in my GSX1400 and now that there is a chance it;s going to go, I feel... well.... bad really. Dunno if I can live without her.

Tel me about it,the things still here and will be until the weekend,to be honest i wish the old girl was gone, feels a bit like when you have to put a dog down, bloody horrible.Blokes paid me 1/2 and will pay the other when he picks her up,couple of times today ive felt like ripping up his check and calling the deal off.Had plenty of bikes in my time and never had a problem parting with them before.Annoying that something this old has gotten under my skin.

Oh dear...I feel for you....

You two have shared many amazing adventures...that is why it pains you so. But...as they say, one door closes and how many open. Just imagine the new adventures you shall have on your new bike.

I must say...it is a beautiful bike you have sold.

Time to say goodbye and then hello.

Never fear, the new bike will fix it.

Nope, feel like an idiot but rather that than regretfull, rang the bloke and told him deals off,i never advertised it for sale and he had only paid 1/2 so simply chucked his cheque in the fire.Lots of reasons really but have simply put to much into the old thing and it still suits my motorcycling needs, probably more so than when i bought it,ive no desire for a new bike and would only have replaced it with something way old.Decided to keep it and look about for an old Commando to tinker with which will take myself and the Mrs about in some degree of comfort for her.As you were then.:innocent:

Yea well there is that mate. There is a plus to all this as both Vic and i have long since wanted an old Commando,me because the old fella had a well tasty one that i fell in love with as a young fella.her because she likes the look of by TL standards a roomy seat and shes not stuck 10 feet in the air higher than me so we will start looking about and i get to keep the old S.

Good on ya mate :)
Early last year I had a buyer for the 1400. Was all set to go and did the same thing. Turned the deal down. My 1400 had got that far under my skin I couldn't bear to part with it. Love riding it so much.

Good on ya 98tls, know how you feel.
My Ducati is the longest I've ever owned a bike, and after tearing it all down, knowing it all and modifying to suit, I can't see myself parting with it. Its nothing special, just fits me well, and feel that it's part of the family, so it can stay, even if I hardly ever use it now.

Proves everything has a price eh Mike?
I kinda got the feeling a while ago that you and it were partners for life.
A new era is forming for both you and the TLS.
