View Full Version : Undercover Cops on bikes - Australia

Just back from a couple of weeks on the Gold Coast, been a few bike crashes and the news was full of the perils of riding. Latest trick seems to be undercover motorcyclists chasing riders and recording speeds to pass onto their uniformed brother officers. I didn't have a real prob with that, but the footage showed them zooming up to riders and then relaying the speeds they were reaching. I thought this was a bit provocative, and likely to encourage riders to have a 'play' with a fellow biker...
:Police:

Apologies if this has been commented on already, but was wondering if anything similar had been tried in NZ...?

The same thing is being done in the UK.

I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before it is implemented here.

If you're stupid enough to be goaded into a race by an unknown rider on the road then you deserve what you get. I'm not saying do it or don't do it. Just saying if you do get busted you only have yourself to blame.

Ah yes, Queensland, where you have to have a car license for a year, before you are allowed to go for a motorbike license!
Really progressive, those from the deep North..........

If you don't want to go fast on a public road, then why are you riding sports bikes?

Ha, mate I ride a bike that goes faster than yours in 2nd gear. I'll lose my license if I redline it in first. And I'm not afraid to admit that I have been goaded into races on the road by unknown riders before. But if I get caught I know who is to blame. Not the police with 'sneaky' tactics. No, me, for twisting that throttle too far. Anyway, while I still have fun on the road I leave the seriously quick stuff for the track.

I don't think they are allowed to act as the informant after they have goaded another motorist into an illegal activity, which is probably why they simply pass the information onto another officer for them to act on it. Still, I think that's a bit of a grey area though.

It all does make me wonder - why are the cops resorting to so many dirty tricks? It seems every week they have yet another sly stunt to catch yet another motorist. Maybe their "industry" is in decline?

What bothered me more was the footage they showed (which was prob the worst they could find) wasn't all that bad. A bit like that crap Target show where they beat up a teeny issue to get the nana's tut-tutting 'ooh he's passing on a double yellow, he shouldn't do that' when the rider barely crossed the centre line and there was clear vision/roads throughout the procedure...

On the plus side I found an awesome tradies pub where the bar girls took their tops off after 5 on Thursdays and Fridays. Went up to get a round and was astounded when the wee stunner tied her hair up and whipped her tits out after I told her the time...

And no I don't have pics, and the pub was 'somewhere' between Brissie and Surfers...

As in tradesmen, workers, blokes in hi-vis shirts and boots...
Pub had totty, cold beer, free sausages and 30-odd plasmas showing sport. They can obviously do things right in Oz without worrying about hairy leso's shouting sexism...

Sounds a bit off to me, I would mistake em for a racer eggin me on for a drag. I think I would be a bit peeved with that kind of behaviour.
