8. Minor burn - Colgate or Crest toothpaste

I wouldn't really advise this one... I heard that a few years back, and my mom burnt herself cooking and I had a brain fart and said "Colgate will help" and we put colgate on it... and the normally small annoying burn turned into a huge blister and my mom reccons the pain after the colgate was worse than the pain before it...

Otherwise those are pretty good :)

The burns unit at Middlemore run into this all the time. It's a real common thing with Pacific Islanders.
The idea was that the menthol would alleviate the discomfort on the most minor burns.but when people apply toothpaste to severe burns the contamination of the tissue is a major medical problem.

So who the hell found all these out!?

It's one of those questions that baffles me, like who discovered tobacco. I mean, who in their right mind would pick a leaf, dry it, roll it up, smoke it, cough their lungs up, then think, "Hmmm, this is cool, I think I'm onto something here."

Clingfilm is the best thing for larger burns- it seals the wound, keeps it hydrated and doesn't stick. Riff Raff/someone else medical should be able to confirm or deny?* Oh, and for smaller ones and sunburn it's hard to beat the sap from an Alo Vera plant. Every kitchen should have one!

*Of course, that's just 'til you go to the hospital to get yourself sorted properly etc etc...

I think coating my glasses or goggles with toothpaste would indeed stop them fogging. But how would I see?

Just noticed this one:

11. Bee stings - meat tenderizer

Whaaaaaat? I though a meat tenderiser was a metal spiky hammer thing. I suppose if you hit yourself repeatedly with one you probably would forget all about the sting, though....
