Hey everyone,
I am now in a position to offer the AA approved Defensive Driving course, for those that would like to reduce their time on their restricted licence. This is being offered to both car and motorcycle road users. The practical element for those who ride bikes, can be done either on a bike or in a car. Either way if you need it to be applied to your class 6 licence, it will be.
I am running a waiting list at the moment, and the next course will be in August.
In order to be eligible to sit the DDC, if you are under 25, you need to have had your restricted licence for a minimum of 6 months, and one day.
If you are over 25, you just need to have your restricted licence.
If you wish to add your name to the waiting list for the August course, PM me, or look me up on facebook at Roadcraft School of Motorcycling Ltd. Click "LIKE" to receive special offers and discounts.
I am also giving driving lessons to those of you who have brothers or sisters, who are just about to start learning to drive. Automatic, dual controlled car available.
Scooter (50cc) available for training also. This can be ridden on a car licence.

So give me a shout on 0800 4 LESSON to see what I can offer you.

Hi Tricia,

That's great news. I don't know of anyone else offerring the DDC for reducing the restricted time with a motorcycle background. I'm sure that will be a big plus for anyone on their 6R and wanting to reduce their time. It's a shame you couldn't offer that when I did my DDC. The DCC course I did offered very little for bikers.

My plan is to introduce as much "Bikie" stuff as I can. Alternatively, if you really want to learn about defensive riding then book an on road session with me, and see what I can teach you.

Roadsafe offer a bike course available to even 6L riders which is subsidised by ACC - get some of your rego money back. This course is a full day of bike riding and theory, well worth doing.

Check when Roadsafe are doing a course in your area by contacting your local ACC or Google Roadsafe.

Tricia1000, how long is this defensive driving certificate valid for? As in, if I do the course now, can it still be used to knock a few months off my restricted time, say, 3 years from now?

there is a sticky somewhere, or faq, covering a lot of these questions. A certificate is use once, loaded against a class. There is technically no expiry, but some try to say its valid for 1 year.

Hi there, you need to be a current holder of a restricted licence to be eligible to sit course in the first place. However after next July 2011 you will be able to sit it on your learners.

Only if you had your restricted class 6 when you did the course. otherwise you need to re sit it.

My plan is to introduce as much "Bikie" stuff as I can.Well that will be good. I did a DDC and it was the most horribly boring thing I have ever done. There was NO ONE there doing a bike license, and the instructor didn't even HAVE a bike license.

We got our bit of paper and left ASAP.
