I have been watching Henry Coles Worlds Greatest Motorcycle Rides on the Sky Travel channel recently and have seen him wearing a ligthweight upper body proction shirt on the warmer rides. It seems to consist of a mesh type material with hard bits in the important parts. (Elbows, shoulders etc) I have tried to find something on the web but cannot find anything like it. Does anyone know the brand name or where one can locate one of these things. I feel it would be the ideal thing to wear on those long summer days with a loose tee shirt over the top.

Dainese, 661 etc have a good range.
Google is your friend.

Like tri boy said, Da & 661 make decent suits. Alpinestars do good quality at reasonable prices too. Then there's FOX, AXO etc.
Definitely google, then shop around. But if you buy cheap, you will get cheap. It may depend on what you want from your gear.

The back protection size/length varies from brand to brand & with-in brands. If you intend to wear a neck brace, then take it with you to try on with the suits. Aso take your helmet. You will surprised how different it feels when you have all the gear on. If you're fitting a neck brace, back armour & helmet, then you need to know it is working together.

There are diferent types of netting. Some can be a bit scratchy against skin. Last thing you want to be distracted by is sweat rashing... Ouch!
The netting stretch can vary as can the hole size.
Also have a good look at how tight the weave is. While some netting is very comfortable due to the amount of stretch it has, it may also have larger holes. This may leave you looking a little like a porcupine after a bush ride.

Make sure you buy a suit with a firm fit. They are all adjustable. The netting can get a bit saggy after a lot of use. It's important that the armour is fitting correctly. If it's loose, then sticks etc can still get in behind & do damage (to YOU)
Do your homework. Go try stuff on. Allow for if you're going to wear clothing under or over the suit.

Good luck Jackal, let us know how you go.
