New bike rego

Like a stupid prick I natrually assumed (i.e. didn't look at the sales agreement correctly before I signed it) my new bike would come with a years registration, just like the one before it. However, rude shock the other day when a bill arrived for registration after six months.

Don't really give a crap about the money, more fucked off that I raped myself due to lazyness, but you'd think that if I was spending $7k more than what I could get a 1 year old model for they wouldn't stiff me over a few hundred bucks. Now in fairness, it was a grand off the sticker price.

Meh, I'll get the last laugh I guess... there's now a bit of a sour taste left in my mouth, over what, a few hundred bucks, which will affect my buying habits (at their store) in the future... bikes gotta be serviced, and I like buying new bits n pieces when the mood takes me... but I guess it must have been worth it too them :shrug:

So, long story short, don't assume that because you're one of a dying breed (private new vehicle buyer) that they won't tuck you if they can. I'll keep buying my bikes new, but I've woken up now; I'll start paying more attention before signing on the dotted line.

But the good news is the bike is absolutely fucking fantastic and the best thing I've ever spent money on.

So I take it you checked the VOSA like I told you to? Does it state 6mths? Check all your paperwork. On the 600 it stated 'Incl ORC' and they only put 6mths on, but on the bikes description sheet it said 12mths, so we got the extra 6.

But yes, you would expect that in todays market they would should some appreciation and goodwill for you spending a serious chunk of money with them.

Last time I bought a new bike I 'negotiated' for it to come with a full tank of gas as prices were either nearing $2 a litre or slightly over. They happily agreed (why wouldn't they it was probably only about $25 worth), so a bit later on I came back with the completed paper work and bought the bike.

As I was about to leave I noticed there was stuff all gas in there. So I asked where the full tank was we'd agreed on. Their response? "That was never agreed upon." I couldn't believe it! After a bit of haggling I managed to get them to pour maybe 2 litres out of a big full can they had in the workshop.

Because of that, I haven't bought anything from that shop since! Got the bike serviced elsewhere too. Obviously the money wasn't a concern for me, I actually just laughed about the whole thing. But even so, the fact they wouldn't give me a full tank of gas was pathetic. So I gave them a pathetic response to match!

What about an insurance claim? Who ends up paying for the rego? I would have liked to get 12 months on my replacement bike (brand spankers) but I had a suspicion it was only gonna be 6 months.

When I picked up the bike...yip...6 months only. A little gutted considering there was a few stuff ups meaning it took 7 months to arrive. It would have been a nice gesture to add another 6 months.

Does the insurance company give the dealer only 6 months rego money or does the dealer pay all of it.

I've always negotiated for 12 months rego on my new bikes but in this case I couldn't really do anything about it.

When I purchased the Hornet new a couple years back there was the big haggle over trade price and the new bike price. I'd got a great trade and was still after a off the sticker price which was agreed to if it was only registered for 6 months. I was told this upfront as IMO you should have been. Mind you the dealer I purchased from went under last year ....... but I did get a deal, I guess too many others did as well!

I'd expect the final agreed price on any new bike to include a full tank of fuel - any dealer thinking otherwise is just pissing off their new customer very quickly.

Reading between the lines mate...I'm guessing you've brought yourself a new Suzuki. All new Suzuki's are advertised with their 'on the road price'. It clearly states this price includes a years wof, SIX months reg, and a full tank of fuel. And the margins in new Suzuki's is slim at beast...even at full retail. If you got $1000.00 off the ticket price you've done very well indeed. BUT...maybe the sales person should've clearly reminded you that it's SIX months reg you were getting. Serve you right for not buying it from me!

Nah...we don't do Victory's...but for sure they look great. I'd be worried about resale though. As far as looking at the advertising goes...maybe...but as I said, I think the sales person should've made sure you were 100% sure of what you were getting for ya bucks. So come on...what did ya buy?

Ha seriously though, I don't plan on selling any of my bikes unless I have a major shift in focus, I just add them to the stack (although I'll be needing a bigger garage after the next one).

It's a lot of power, so I'm not surprised... public roads become awfully narrow at that speed.

Still, there is a certain amount of hilarity at hitting a crest in the wet at a 100mph (as you click second bahahahahaha), and the front lifting and the back lighting up both at once. I once thought I'd reached a sufficent level of maturity in my riding that I could behave on a thou, but no, it would make even Katman a Road Rules Rapist within ten minutes.
