My work shop manager in Cairns bought one of the Z's at the auction after filming.
Enjoyed it, (the movie) in the 80's, but probably has dated by now.

One of the classical moments of my yoff. I will never forget going to see it on the big screen. The bloke whos car we went in demanded half shares in the petrol  which of course we paid (as you do). My boyfriend was in plaster from hip to toe after arguing with a kerb at a little bit faster the the posted speed limit on his bike, so we were hitching a lift. The movie was one out of the box, I doubt I will ever forget the end scenes where he got beaten till he was pulpy and bleeding everywhere. We went outside and the guy whos car we were in spewed in the carpark :D

OMG! Yoff!

Apparently half the people who were 'extra zeds' all turned up for free under the promise they would get a bikini fairing, many left empty handed.
I remember someone like Groff writing an article bout it

Some of the younger bikers on this site will be in danger of thinking the 70's were really like that

He who could pull the piss, when pulling the piss was in it's infancy.
I think a N Gunston tribute thread is required.

Seeing that clip that Big Dave posted was really strange. OMG, this was a formative biker movie for me, looking at it now it is seriously  :shit: :gob: pathetic

Stone and Mrs Stones Thing. I will have to see if I can find copies.

The Grave Diggers patch was copied by the Vietnam Vet's MC.

The Z was the superbike of the day.

They did not plan to use the Z, but could not get their hands on anything else for the price.

I loved the movie then. And still do. Have a DVD copy of it that comes out now and then. Today all are too used to special effects and digital stuff. There is none in this movie. Just enjoy it for what it is: A low budget movie from the 70's done in Oz.

I recall reading that they could not get enough Z1s, so some of the bikes were disguised CB750s to make up the numbers

More like '75 or '76. I had a CB450 that would not wheelie...hell - it only just moved. That road in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney was like Mecca. Yatesey's XR did the business though.
