Not the first time something like this has happened and sadly, I dont think it will be the last time either.

Just up the road.. I must've counted five ambos, five copmobiles and a couple firetrucks.

Quite a few years ago now, my Father had a stroke at the wheel of his car and crashed into some poor old ladies house. Thank god she was not hurt at all and he was ok after spending some time in Hospital.

My old man used to drive a 36 tonne truck back in the Uk, he had his hgv licence revoked cause he had a dodgy ticker, about a month later he had a heart attack. Boy is he glad he was driving then.

Goodness, how about that for timing? Thank goodness he wasn't behind the wheel of a truck. Would have been nothing he could to about the situation. Sorry to hear he did have a heart attack, but sounds like the outcome could have been much much worse

Yeah, talk about timing. A 36 tonne truck out of control could make one hell of a mess.

He's fine by the way, recovered really well.

I understand it was another old duffer who lost control on a bend.

We have no idea of the situation or circumstances so it is quite inappropriate to comment.

I wonder if he will still be allowed on the road after this.

Many old duffers can't see properly and are allowed to carry on driving so they can get from A to B.

I had an old duffer reversing at me this morning. It was at an old folks village so I was quite aware of such hazzards. I moved slightly backwards so his wheels didn't run over me and when his window was level with me, he almost had a heart attack with the shock of seeing someone so close :lol:

This is just one more hazzard for us on the road.

there is a old guy down the road he is 92 and still driving, badly i must say, he took the door mirror off one of my cars a little while ago, he will either kill himself or someone else, nice old guy though he was a tail gunner in a bomber during the war

That particular stretch of road is incredibly winedy with alot of deceptive bends. I have been along there a few times on the bike and you really need to be taking it easy especially if its a bit damp.

Actually - no its not (its 2 mins from my home) - the guy was coming down east coast road. Unless there was something wrong with the car or driver - there is no way to fall off the road there unless you are really flying.

Fair point. My grandpa was a navigator of a bomber in the war - was still driving at 92 as well. Couldn't navigate the road very well either poor old boy. But he knew he had gotten to that point and made the decision himself that he wasn't safe enough to still be driving. My grandma is now 89 and at that same point, and realising very quickly that she is a bit of a hazard to other road users too. It's tough to watch - still lives in a house on her own and thats her only means to doing the shopping etc. But good to know she is very aware of her situation.
