A Memorial Gathering for Dobsy will be held over the weekend of 17th and 18th July.
On Saturday 17th , a Memorial service will take place at the Onewhero Hall. This will be followed by a tribute lap of Pukekohe Park Raceway.
On Sunday 18th , there will be a Benefit Bike Show at the Pukekohe A and P Show Grounds with all proceeds going to Dobsys lovely girls ( Bridget, Eadlin and Hillberry). The display will include Dobsys current campaign bikes as well as many interesting and iconic motorcycles.
This event is creating good interest.Dobsy was an awesome guy and this is a great was to pay tribute as well as acknowledge his place in New Zealand Motorcycling history.
An update with specific details will be done with in the next couple of days.
If anyone could help by finding footage of Dobsy racing, please could you contact us asap. This would be so gratefully appreciated and returned safely to you.

Could cause a few problems for some wanting to see him off, as the 17th is the 3rd round of the Vic Club Series at Manfield

It has been very hard to book venues on a weekend that suited everyone. It is also the AGM for the Classics that weekend which , as you know,Dobsy was also involved in.As well as Pukekohe Motorcycle club having a Mercer meet. Our main priority has been to work in with Bridget.Shaun, please could you ring Bernie Smith on 0274803940.

Just spoke with him. I will be there for the 18th.
I will be bringing my TT Arai helmet, it is one of only 500 made, as a show for the TT running for 100 Years in 2007. This was the helmet I was wearing in my accident over there, and it will be being donated to the family to try to get some more funds for them, hopefully some one will figure out a way to get in Internationaly auctioned off?

Shaun, all we will need to do with this is set up an auction, ask Martin or one of the other overseas folk to post a link to it on the forums they use and take it from there.
If no one else steps up, I'll organise packaging it up, and figure out how much it'll cost to courier or post overseas.
This is my simplistic answer to your awesome idea/gift, and I'll introduce myself to you on the 18th (we have met once or twice before, but you won't remember me).
I'm sure we can figure things out.
There was someone at the Classic meet last year, I think, who was going around asking people who'd ridden the TT for their autograph in a book he had of the TT, and it seemed strange at the time when a friend was asked for his autograph (we were talking to Dobbsy at the time, and to me, he was just Dobbsy, I sort of forgot that he was well-respected due to his racing).
Funny how different things pop into your head. Probably worded wierdly but I know what I mean lol.
Damn, it's going to be wierd not seeing him again.
Thank you to the original poster for the details.
