[EDIT] Old Steve clocks up 6000 km - 25/7/2010

(see later post)

Went for a ride to Katikati this morning. My wife drove her new car, and we had coffe and scones up in the balcony cafe in the main street. Nice morning ride.

On the way home my odo clicked over 5000 km that I have ridden in the 18 weeks since I got the bike. I'm having a ball, just sorry that I didn't start biking years ago.

Only 5 weeks until I can take my 6R test!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And counting.

Well done that man. Wish I had ridden 5000 km this year so far. Only managed to get out once in June for a quick 600 km ride.
Keep it up.

Congratulations mate, and good luck for the 6R. Not that you'll need it.

Bet you've been eyeing up these (http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2010models/2010-Hyosung-GV650Aquila-AvitarFIb.jpg) down at Bay City, they look even more beautiful in the flesh.

Had a look and a sit on the new Hyosung ST7 before I went down to Christchurch earlier this week. Bay City Motorcycles are one of the few dealerships to have one on the shop floor. Now that's something to lust after. But out of my budget unfortunately. I'd have to settle for something very 2nd hand if I went for a bike of that size.

But everyone needs something to dream about.

Went for a ride with the club today, just a small group of us but we had a fantastic ride. Went up behind Whakamarama into the Kaimai foothills, then down to Waihi beach and the Bowentown lookout, out on Trig Rd and into Waihi from the Whangamata Rd, on to Paeroa, across to Te Aroha for lunch, then home via the Te Aroha Rd and the Kaimais.

At 120 km/hr along Te Aroha Rd I clocked up 6000 kms riding. Thats in 21 weeks of bike ownership. Feeling good!!!

Nice one Steve. You covered a good chunk of my practice route on your Bowentown to Waihi section. I love the run along Trigg Road, though it can be a bit wet and mossy at the Waihi end. Hope to join up soon.

.... though it can be a bit wet and mossy at the Waihi end.

Yeah, we all had a little sphincter exercise when going up the side of the hill in the shade just before the Landlyst Rd turnoff.

On the strength of that little tail looseness yesterday, I delivered the bike to Bay City Motorcycles today to have a new rear tyre fitted. Also, making sure the bike is in WOF condition for when I try my 6R test in a week or two.

Nice going Steve.

I just checked my back tyre and it looks like it'll need replacing too.

Although I am being useless and haven't booked in for the 6R, yet in 7 months
I have clocked up close to 18,000kms. I love commuting!!!
