Anywhere near a pub in Newtown? I guess it was the least of the poor chap's problems at that stage.

It makes me wonder if the two men standing there laughing were somehow involved in causing the accident.

Ignorant people have been known to behave in an apallingly manner, these young men that jeered may not have realised the seriousness of the riders injuries.

Many years ago I fell off a bike on the side of the road, some young men driving past laughed their arses of at my misfortune. It happens.

I'm sure these jeerers are not laughing quite so hard now.

Just goes to show you how heartless some people can be and would they be standing there laughing if it was their loved 1 lying there dying. Mongrels.

I bloody well hope sooooo! I know full well I would have called the police on those men, if I was to scared to go out, they are a party to in my eyes "manslaughter".

Let us tho hope that this is not a factual story, and just media hype, and that it had no relationship to the young man :( Societies negativity is irritating!

Societies negativity is irritating! It's not about you. It can not and will not do anything to you, so you can safely and confidently ignore it. You are your own person with your own character and morals, and their actions don't colour you in the slightest.

As you were. :niceone:

In the past you would have said he probably deserved itHis actions and their actions are two separate things. The thread is about their actions, hence my comment.

If I was commenting about his actions, then yes, I would have submitted that the rider, mostly, is the master of his own destiny. I have recently learned that often I am not in a position to pass judgement or even offer an opinion on it, and so I won't.

I also think their behavior is disgusting. Give the poor man some dignity in his final hours. It still amazes me that human nature can have this truly evil side to it. Who in their right mind would react and try to help or assist in the situation, or be in shock from even seeing it?

I do believe in karma, and agreed - it will come around and bite them in the ass!

That is totally shitty behaviour, but pretty typical of the way DRUNK people react at accident scenes from my experience with St.John.

it is shitty behavour to act like that but it is even worse to be so drunk like that you act like that. but then again some people are just jerks and should be shot three time in the back of the head.

i do hope the taxi and van drivers are ok witnessing a death and assholes like that can be quite traumitizing. my condolonses for the bikers family.

There will be a very good reason why.

I was thinking this too.
Not trying to defend this at all, but sometimes things can be far worse (accident) then they look.
If it is as it is presented, then yes that is pretty sad.

This is no shock, no surprise. No reflection of society today, of attitude towards bikers, or even the facts of the accident. There are some idiots like this out there, even when sober, plain and simple.

I would be surprised if the majority of people on this forum hadn't, at one time or another, heard some fool shout out "Shame!" or laugh at someone elses misfortune. People laughing at homeless people, jeering at prostitutes etc.

These guys couldn't have known that the poor victim was mortally injured. They were just laughing at the fact that he had crashed. This does not excuse their behaviour at all, just shows them for what they are, the empathy lacking brainless putrid scum that occaisionaly floats to the surface.

A Lady who nursed the rider after the crash said on Newstalk ZB today, that no one laughed or behaved in any manner that would cause offence, so possibly the whole thing is B.S

In saying that, a few drivers where giving Loosebruce and DSS3 a earful as they where dying, luckily I hadn't arrived at that point otherwise there would have been consequences.

I think its OK to tell people what you think of their actions but NOT ok to do it if they are critically injured - ie a time and a place for everything as our mothers would have said. I sersiously would doubt that any Maori or PI folks I know would ever behave in that fashion as (well they just wouldnt OK) and I truely hope this is a beat up.

Regardless - what a damn shame and ... well... I dunno... just a damn shame

speaking from personal experiance cagers are cunts. when i got T-boned by a cager no one helped me... lucky i wasnt criticaly injured just a bit dazed... got uphad picked up my bike off the midle of the motorway as cars drove around me, and no one did a thing they all just looked, even 2 bikers rode past giving a glance as i strugled to lift my bike every one just looked out their car windows... im sure some were snapping pics on their phones to tell mates "about the idiot on a bike that got hit by a car......"

so yeah sounds like a similar situation...

Amusing , No Heartfelt, yes.
Even then though, to laugh at them and mock them as they lie dying would be very hard to do.I'd probably render assistance as always and quietly tell em they're fuckwits for getting themselves into this mess.
Seems that it was a slow news day so the poor old motorcyclist got his crash sensationalised.

Poor bugger,

Its probarbly all media bullshit, funny thing is no one here has taken the reporter to task for writing bullshit (if that is the case).

And if it is true then the laughers have already got their karma. They are destined to be fuckwitted for the rest of their lives.

My condolences.

I guess that behaviour is a reflection on the people mocking, it demonstrates their value (or lack) to our society. I was exposed to the same mentality after a bike accident up here a while ago. Not realising that I have a bike, a customer was talking to me about the accident & commented that he hoped it was fatal (it wasn't!). I kicked him out & have not allowed him back since. This comment was made by a guy who lost his licence drink driving. Some people are just souls spinning down the plug hole of life, oblivious to anything important.

No one in there right mind would stand around laughing (or be allowed to do so) while an injured man is being tended to. They laughed at him immediately after the accident happened, then moved along - before anyone tended to the guy.

Sounds like a dreadful situation you were in. Completely different from mine though - when I smeared my bike down the motorway last year I had nothing but wonderful help from several drivers who saw to helping me off the road, strangers who lifted my bike out from under the back of a car (where it had slid), called the police for me etc. Maybe it was because they saw a girlie under the helmet when I took if off, but I don't think so. You had an awful experience, mine was entirely different.

Oh OK, that makes sense, But in saying that I see shit all the time where people slip over, fall of there push bike, crash on a skateboard, have a fender bender, and I sometimes laugh ........... I also see shit on TV on "when good times go bad" American funniest home movies" as well as a bunch of other Programmes, I also sometimes laugh at their misfortune often because its occasionally funny shit and deserves a giggle, I dont know if they are mortally wounded or not.......................does that make me a bad person, No.

I suspect ........ no Im confident 100% the people who where laughing on this occasion actually didn't know the poor fella was fatally wounded.

I tell ya driving in Newtown (Welly) seems like a combat experience.. Harrowing, frightening, surreal and sometimes fatal or leaving people bloodied! I've had people pull out across the front of me (next to Maccas & New World) without actually looking.. I had to emergency exit to other side of the road as the C-bomber stopped ACROSS traffic & got tailed & topped Tboned from cars behind me & him.

I hate Newtown car drivers.. they are all Tards of the highest order!!

In the last two weeks I have seen two Tbones on the roundabout next to where this occurred.. people don't look they just hurtle & believe size-equals-right...

This behaviour is the norm for a few people at this end of Newtown (http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?hl=&q=Newtown,+Wellington&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Newtown,+Wellington&ll=-41.317077,174.780893&spn=0.043449,0.077162&z=14&layer=c&cbll=-41.31673,174.780771&panoid=mDvj1KhM44FkVpC3oT6SlA&cbp=12,211.43,,0,28.73).. wasters & (unfortunately) lower socio economic boozers reinforcing the stereotypes

Gawd if only I could taser them all!!
