Pinlock visor +3. I've used them in the past and they are faultless, a friend of mine got one the other day, he's pretty cynical but he absolutely raves about it.

Try cutting an onion in half and then rubbing it on the inside of your visor. Leave it until it dries otherwise your eyes will be watering.

I have a Fog City insert in my helmet (it is pretty old now I guess) which works well, I am guessing its similar to the pinlock one... Kind of like double glazing for your visor works really well :)

From what I've heard the Pinlock model is superior to the Fog City insert.

Same thing - but with no glue - ergo longer lasting and easier to replace. Higher price. Worth it if you've got the coin.

I have a fog city also, got it from New Plymouth Triumph dealer when I rode up a couple of years ago. Still in there & works as good as the day I installed it.

Pinlock x 5 - wouldn't wear a helmet without one.
Link to the pinlock website:

Just noticed that the new ones change tint in sunlight - I like.
You should be able to source a pinlock insert from your local bike dealer. One thing to think about though - if your shark has the flashy 3mm thick visor then a drilled pinlock system might not work (most visors are 2mm and I think the pinlocks are designed for this thickness).
They do do an adhesive type but not sure how good these are at staying in place.

Got a self-adhesive insert form Motomail - does the job pretty well for $20.
Pinlock for the next lid, though.

Just click the link, on the pinlock website to "motor usa" and there is an explanation of what it is.
But in quick terms it is double glazing for visors.

I have the same shark RSI. Generally pretty good for antifog-ness except in the rain I have to open it a bit. I asked about pinlocks at cycletreads but they said i couldnt get one for the RSI :(
Guess will just have to get on of the stick on ones

Just been on my first reasonable ride with a full-faced helmet in cold/moist conditions - dunno how you guys do it, the fogging stress would give a dogs arse heartburn.
But I might give one of them 'pinlock' deals a shot.

Oh God. Now I feel simple. I usually ride around town visor up but when facial protection is required, all I do is leave the visor at it's first setting (about 5mm open I guess). No fog ... a pleasant waft of fresh air in summer and in winter I wear a balaclava so no worrries there.

But what happens when ya stop at traffic lights or stop signs etc in the pissin down rain.????
Even with my Foggoff mask the visor would fog up when I stopped, not so with a pinlock insert.

the " Pinlock System " is a Shoei thing & designed for Shoei helmets but you can fit to pretty much any lid, all you need is a drill, drill bit & 15 minutes. Found me a spare one ( I have a Shoei Multi tec flip front helmet also ) sized up my Nitro Aerotech to make sure it would fit, drilled me holes & 15 min later DONE....:2thumbsup just came back from 2 weeks touring the lower north island & even travelling through national park in thick/cold fog it didn't fog up at all I have recently spoken with a local bike shop & they informed me that the new pinlock visors have a wider oval shape & better side vision to fit the new Shoei XR 1100 & to offer better vision if you are on a sport bike due to the seating position, so before buying anything off the shelf I'd take me lid in a size both up & pick the best that suits you.

Are pinlocks universal for all helmets? I did some searches and only came up with pinlocks to suit HJC, Arai and Shoei helmets. I have a Shark.

Nope. Some more expensive helmets come with them standard. Some helmets are made so you can buy the pinlock as an extra accessory and fit it. Other helmets were never designed to fit a pinlock visor but there are often third party kits to retrofit them onto the visor.

see here.... http://www.racevisors.co.uk/category/pinlock-antifog-visor-inserts
it shows pinlock inserts are made for some shark helmets, if your model isn't set up for one they list a universal DYI one.
Ask at your local bike shop they can get em in.I Asked at mine ,they didn't know what they where, but got one in for me.

If you size up the insert Vs your visior & it fits inside the edges of your visior then its only a matter of drilling some holes & your done. I couldn't find any inserts for my Nitro but had a spare lying around for my Shoei, sized the insert up with the visior everything was well inside the edges of the visior, drilled some holes inserted the pins/insert made it a nice tight fit , DONE & it works primo !!!

From sparrowhawk september 2008:
"A tiny drop of washing-up liquid, you know the type you use to wash dishes in the sink. Smear it around the inside of the visor and leave it. Cheapest anti-fog treatment I know. That works for me too. A bit of dishwashing liquid on a soft cloth, then like polishing a car. Put it on, leave it for 5 minutes, buff it off. Lasts about a week between applications, and works wonders. makes the inside of your helmet smell like lemon too."
I can testify to it working in the depths of a Scottish winter and the solution being as cheap as chips appeals to a Scotsman :-)

Agreed - I've been using the system for the last 5 years or so - I still fog up a bit when it's really cold/wet, as for some reason I can't get a 100% seal with pinlock my new XR1000 (regardless of whether I use my tinted/clear visor) - but overall it seems the best solution, and much better than having to put cat crap etc on it all the time!

I see all the comments in favour of the Pinlock and I have been interested but I wear glasses too. It would be a complete waste of money if I stopped the visor from fogging up but the specs did instead. Anyone able to comment on this?
TBH in most condition I actually like have the visor open at low speeds and habitually open it when stopped at the lights or when I am filtering. Unless the weather is totally crappy I also like to have it open just a little on the open roads too.

Each helmet may react differently with airflow etc...............but, I have the Pinlock insert and always wear sunnies. The only time my glasses fog, is when I'm stationary and wearing a balaclava. I also keep my visor open at town speeds though.

Yup, there can be quite a bit of cost differential. A while ago I ordered in an arai visor and insert from this site:
http://www.thevisorshop.com/
Saved me about $50 on the local price (plus I got a free visor carrier). It's all down to those crazy exchange rates (GBP currently at 0.46 to 0.47 to the NZD - which is a bloody good rate still).

You can get both visors and pinlock inserts from that shop but if your asking do they drill and install them for you - I don't think so but you could e-mail them and ask.
If you have already got a pinlock ready visor (has the pins) then attaching the insert is really easy (just take the visor out of the helmet and flatten it, then put the insert in place (you may have to rotate one or both pins slightly to get the insert flush to the visor).
If your current visor isn't pinlock ready then I wouldn't know how easy it is to drill a visor as I haven't had to do it myself. You could try asking at your local bike shop and see what they think.

I've decided to take the plunge and order in the protectint insert type for my new helmet. They only seem to be available in the UK at present.
Not cheap at GBP45 (which is about the same cost as a tinted visor) but hopefully will be very versatile for day and night time riding without having to change visors. Will post back on how good it is after trying it out for a while.
This is where I ended up buying the insert from: http://www.pinlockshop.co.uk/
